~Liv's P.O.V~

After the somewhat awkward introduction between Marcus and Dylan we head for our cinema and take our seats. Dylan offers me to go in first and follows behind me. I sit down and Dylan sits next to me. Marcus stands assessing the seating situation for a moment and then instead of sitting next to Dylan, Marcus shuffles in front of both of us to sit on the other side of me, putting me in the middle.

I look at both boys who are both glaring at each other from the gap behind my neck.
Geez what is their problem with each other?

I ignore them and turn my attention to my phone when I get a text from Laura

Laura: I 👀 u

I turn around and scan the cinema to see Laura walking in holding her phone in one hand and Connor's hand in the the other. She smiles at me and waves at me awkwardly grasping the phone at the same time.

I return the wave and raise my eyebrows at her and shift my eyes to Dylan.

From the distance we have between each other I still catch the wink she shoots in my direction. I turn back to the screen before I start blushing.

"Who is that?" Dylan asks when I return to my forward facing position.

"Oh it's my friend from horse riding." I reply smiling.

"Laura?" Marcus questions.

I turn to him and nod. The lights begin to go dim and out of the corner of my eye see Dylan shuffle a little bit closer to me.

Be cool
I beg my inner self.

The three of us watch the movie intently for a while. But about 30 minutes in I notice both boys loosing focus on the screen and letting their eyes wander around the room.

I return my attention to the screen where an epic battle scene is about to carry out. I grab a handful of popcorn and start filling my mouth with pieces one by one.

I continue eating until I find my hand is emptied of all the popcorn so I wipe my greasy hands and rest my hand on the arm-rest between Dylan and I.

Just as the battle scene is intensifying, I feel Dylan's hand creeping ever so close to my own. He softly grazes his finger past mine and then lays his hand still.

Does he want to hold my hand?
I ask myself.

I subtly shift my eyes to Dylan who is blankly looking at the screen.

I decide that it must have been a mistaken touch and continue watching the movie.

~DYLANS P.O.V~

Come on Dylan. You have made this move tons of times! Why are you nervous about it now?

I argue silently with myself.

I look to Liv who is digging through her purse for the lolly cup I bought her. Over her shoulder I catch Marcus staring at her intently, like a dog staring at a bone.

I clear my throat hoping to catch Marcus's attention off of Liv and on to me, but all this does is re-direct Liv's attention from her purse and on to me.

I look away from her knowing that if I stare to long she might sense my attraction to her.

Liv turns back to busily shuffling through her bag.

After roughly another 40 minutes the movie is finally over and we start to head out the door.

As we are leaving Liv runs up to a girl with dark brown hair and hugs her giggling. I look around and standing behind the girl Liv was hugging, on his phone is my best friend since 3rd grade, Connor Carbrook.

"Connor?!" I exclaim excitedly walking closer to him.

The boy looks up from his phone and I watch his face light up when he recognises me.

"Dylan! Long time no see!" Connor says rushing over and giving me a short high five to hug.

"Yea it's been like 2 years!" I add.

We chat for a while until the brown haired girl that Liv had been talking to comes beside Connor and wraps her arms around his right arm.

"Oh mate let me introduce you. Dylan, this is my girlfriend Laura. Babe this is Dylan." Connor says gesturing to both of us.

"Hello." Laura greets me politely.

I smile in return and look around for Liv.

I watch as she hugs Marcus and waves to him as he walks away, she then walks over to where we are all standing.

"Marcus had to go or he would miss his curfew." Liv informs us as she enters the group.

"It's like 9:30 though?" I say checking my watch.

Liv shrugs her shoulders.

Laura lets go of Connor's arm and puts her arm around Liv.
"Wait, so how do you two know each other?" Connor asks Laura.

"Oh we met in like grade 7 at a pony club muster. Then discovered we live like one street away from each other so we started talking and rode together every weekend since." Laura smiles nudging Liv's arm.

Liv smiles and nods.

"Yea what about you two?" Liv asks referring to Connor and I.

"Oh Connor and I go way back. Met back in grade 3 when Miss Hanning put us both in opposite naughty corners for using the classes pet guinea pig as a test driver for our Lego car." I answer laughing at the memories.

Liv and Laura exchange glances and laugh.

"So, how long have you two been together?" Connor asks.

I feel my heart flutter a little bit.

"Oh um.." Liv begins.

"We aren't dating..." I finish, looking at Liv and then back to Connor, awkwardly rubbing the back of my neck.

Connor raises his eyebrows.

"Oh sorry..." He responds equally as awkward.

The group remains quiet for a few seconds until Laura breaks the silence.

"Well Connor and I were just about to go grab some ice cream, did you guys want to join?" Laura suggests.

I look at Liv and she looks back to me.

"Sure." She answers smiling at Laura.

We all walk side by side and chat the whole way to the ice cream shop.

When we arrive and order our ice cream I can't help but glance at Liv every few seconds through out conversation. She takes small spoon full's of her caramel ice cream happily, oblivious to my watching eyes.

Why does she seem different to other girls I have come across?
I ask myself silently.
