A/n POV
The moment Y/n and Jungkook stepped onto the stage, the atmosphere of the ballroom seemed to change.
The conversations that had filled the room only seconds ago gradually faded, one after another, until there was nothing left but the soft murmur of the music and the quiet movement of hundreds of people turning their attention toward the stage.
Y/n could feel their eyes on her. She tried not to let it show.
Jungkook walked beside her with the same calm composure he had carried since they arrived. His posture was straight, his expression unreadable, and every step he took seemed deliberate, as though he had been born for moments like this.
She glanced briefly toward him.
His eyes remained fixed ahead as they reached the center of the stage, where Mr. Jeon was already waiting for them.
The sight of him standing there made the significance of the evening settle over Y/n all over again.
Mr. Jeon's gaze moved toward them as they approached. For a moment, his eyes rested on Jungkook before shifting briefly toward Y/n.
There was no smile on his face, there didn't need to be. His presence alone commanded the attention of the entire room.
He waited until they had reached him before turning toward the crowd.
The lights above the stage seemed brighter now, illuminating the three of them while the rest of the ballroom remained slightly darker.
Y/n instinctively straightened. Jungkook's hand brushed lightly against hers.
It was such a small gesture that no one else would have noticed, but it steadied her.
Mr. Jeon stepped forward. The room fell completely silent.
"For generations, this family has stood through alliances, rivalries, losses, and victories," he began, his voice carrying effortlessly across the ballroom. "Everything we have built has been protected by those who came before us, and everything we leave behind will be carried by those who come after us."
Y/n listened quietly.
Around the room, even the people who had spent the evening talking amongst themselves were now completely focused on the stage.
Mr. Jeon's gaze slowly moved across the crowd.
"Tonight, I stand before the families who have walked beside us, the allies who have shared our interests, and those who have challenged us."
A faint shift passed through the room at his last words. His expression remained unchanged.
"And before all of you, I formally announce the succession of my son, Jeon Jungkook."
The words seemed to settle heavily over the ballroom.
For a second, there was complete silence. Then the sound of applause began.
It started from somewhere near the front before spreading through the entire room, growing louder until it filled the ballroom.
Y/n looked toward Jungkook. He hadn't moved. He simply stood there, accepting the attention with an almost unsettling calmness.
There was something different about him now.Perhaps it was because of the way everyone was looking at him.
Perhaps it was because she finally understood that the man standing beside her wasn't simply the Jungkook she knew in the quiet moments between them.
He was the man all these people had come here to acknowledge.
Mr. Jeon waited for the applause to fade before continuing.
