Mikasa's POV

I twist my engagement ring around my finger as my head is rested on the arm of the sofa.
It's nearing the end of June, and I just can't wait for my wedding.
My wedding... I had dreams of marriage when I was young, but after the year 840, those thoughts escaped my mind like a long, lost and forgotten dream as it truly was.
I thought that I would never get to marry anybody after that year, I thought I'd die before the war was over. So many had died fighting for our freedom, and only few are able to live in it.
Like our parents, our friends, our comrades. It's too unfair... Why do we live in a world like this?
Armin... He saved us all, and I'm still star-struck. He managed to execute the plan so perfectly, and I wasn't there to see it happen.
But, when it was completely silent, and I heard no more screaming, I knew we won that day. As Eren was beside Armin the whole time, I guess he can be the one to tell the tale.

Armin has finally seen the beach today as well, and that's what he had been dreaming of since he was young. He has deserved it, for all of the things that have happened.

I take my ring off of my finger and rub it up and down, trying to make my skin puff back up.
Three months is too far away...
The venue has been sorted, Miranda helped me with the decor and post-event, (we will probably have to go elsewhere after the wedding, as Eren has already sorted the venue himself) the funds have been taken care of, and we hadn't a problem with it as we got a very exceptional amount after the war and the only things that needs to be done now is my dress, Eren's outfit and the pastor. So, a lot of things have already been done already.
We needn't a complicated wedding, so it was quite easy compared to others. I have never been to a wedding, but I would have loved to have went to my parents', but I wasn't even born then.
My mother used to tell me about how her wedding went, and how they met. It was all so magical in my young and naive eyes.
She said that one day I would meet a handsome and charming boy that would love me forever, and I would have a wedding of my own.
Little did she know that she wouldn't be there to see, and little did I know...

I place my ring back on my fingers and sigh.
I always remember my parents when I'm alone and thinking to myself. Sometimes I wish I didn't, but it's something that I can't stop thinking about.
I hope that there is some other world where they are alive, and can see me and watch me, to know that I'm alive and happy.
I just want them to know that I'm not living a life of horror that Eren saved me from, I just want them to feel content and relieved.
They might know already, they might not.
I'll just have to see when I go up to 'heaven', or whatever the hell comes after.

I hear the door open and I sit up and turn around to see who it is.
It is Armin and Eren that has returned from outside after around five hours.
Armin seems refreshed, but Eren seems quite fatigued.
"Hello, how was it?" I ask the two.
"Oh, Mikasa, it was the best thing I've ever seen," he says with stars inside his eyes. I smile at how amazed he is about it. "I might even go back tomorrow," he says.
"And you, Eren?"
"We both had a great time. We saw a few crabs, and jellyfish. I only know the name of those because Armin was literally telling me the name of every single thing that he saw and came across."
I stand up and stretch my legs and arms.
"Where's Liesel?" Armin asks.
"She's in the library, so I'm assuming she's reading."
"I'll greet her soon," and I can't help but let out a short chuckle.
"Hey, don't be trying to hit on my sister just because she likes reading," Eren says humorously.

"Armin, if you're staying here, you'll have the share the couch with Liesel or I could share the couch with Liesel and then you sleep upstairs. Take your pick," I tell.
"No, no, no, I can't take your bed from you, I'll sleep down here. I'll be gone by tomorrow," he says and I sigh with a secret relief of being able to sleep upstairs with Eren.

I see Eren picking up Armin's massive rucksack and then Armin waving in front of his face as if to say 'don't do it'.
"Eren, don't you worry about that, I'll bring it up." He insists.
"Let me just help you, what's the problem?" Eren questions him.
"There's really fragile gear in there and I know how clumsy you are," he says, honestly but kind of nervous as well.
Armin takes the bag from Eren's hand and waddles up the stairs and Eren follows behind him.
After staring at the awkward sight momentarily, I shrug it off and think about preparations for dinner.

Eren's POV

Armin lets the bag drop on the floor and I await for him to reveal its contents. I hear his hands interact with what seems to a plastic sheet and he takes it out of the bag and there I see it: my mother's wedding dress.
"I was so scared that you wouldn't bring it, as I let you know so early in the morning. Luckily, when I woke up to send a letter to you, Mikasa didn't wake up." I say, very hushed, so no one downstairs can hear.
"Getting in wasn't much of a hassle as the door were already open. Finding the dress was harder."
"Thank you, Armin, she'll be very pleased." I smile, as I unravel the dress from its packaging.
It smells musty, but still feels just as silky as I hoped.
"I need to hide this," I say, wrapping the dress back in the package and pushing it deep underneath the bed.
"Wait, did you get the headdress?" I ask with sudden realisation.
"Urgh..." He rummages through the bag, and then stops worryingly. "Eren, I forgot... Besides, I didn't know what it looked like or where they could've placed it."
I sigh and say, "well, we can make do."
