Eren's POV
I never thought that we would be in this forest overnight. I was going to leave much earlier at first, but then we got extremely engrossed in catching up with each other; that's not really surprising, though.
The moon is high up in the sky, and I can't see it staying up for much longer, it's probably morning now.
I'm lying in a bedroll, and Liesel continues to cook the new hare she killed across the spit.
"I need to leave tomorrow. Back to the walls where I was supposed to be right now." I say. I see Liesel shake her head and I furrow my eyebrows, "you can't to go first thing. Firstly, you'll have to help me destroy the base."'
"What base?" I ask.
"The base where your murderers lie."
My heart jumps, as I now understand what we need to do.
"If we do this, all of them will be killed at once and we won't have to worry about them anymore. But we need them together all at once, so I'll have to form a plan to get every single one to return to the base. Remember, some of them live 'normal' lives, Gerald is an example."
Of course, she knows about Gerald.
"So, how will you get all of them together?"' I ask.
"I'll deport a message from base and say that it is to form a plan to kill you, as I 'now know exactly where you are.' You'll need to wear a disguise to follow me in, because I won't be able to set the gases whilst I'm supposedly 'setting up the plan.'"
I gulp. This could be very dangerous, and I could be ending up dying if we get this wrong. If I die, who'll tell Mikasa? That'd kill her. But, this opportunity will finally give her safety. She won't have people hunting her anymore, and she can live like everybody else. But, she would to live as a widow... So, I have to make sure that I do not die, it's so important. I don't want her to live without me by her side, and I don't want to not be able to protect her if I need to. I want to spend the very last moment of my life right next to her.
I will not die here, and I'm promising to her.
"I'm setting off lethal gases, right?" I ask, and she nods in return.
"But, wouldn't that kill you too?"
"Trust me, I'll have a way out. You don't need to worry about me."
I look at her straight in the eyes, and then sigh as I look to the fire.
"Just, don't die, Liesel. Even if it's to save me, don't you dare." I say to her.
She doesn't respond verbally, and I don't look up to her to see if she does anything else.
I press my cheek against the bedroll and get ready to sleep.
"Goodnight." I say, turning my body away from the fire. There's a brief silence, "see you tomorrow."
Mikasa's POV
I wake up and do not remember the dream that I previously had, not even little details. I sit up and the cold air touches my skin as I take the blanket from my body.
My feet kiss the freezing wooden planks, and I turn to Miranda who's still asleep.
I stretch my arms out, and walk to the library, which is only so close to living room and opposite the kitchen.
I pull the golden knobs and step inside, closing the doors behind me. I look through the few books that were on the shelf, and think of happy moments in the future of me filling the entire shelves.
There's one that I've not heard of: The Flight of The Bird.
I pull the book from the shelf and sit on the soft carpet below me, crossing my legs.
I open the book to the first page and start reading. If this is fictional or non-fictional, I don't know, as it doesn't state it.
The first page is blank, and when I turn it to the other page, it has been ripped out from the book. As I flick through the entire book, quite a bunch of pages have been ripped from it. I put the book down, as there's no point reading a book with ripped out pages.
I walk up the mine and Eren's bedroom and then to the roof where I can relax.
I look around at the scenery, and pull the covers over my arms. The grey clouds mask the sun, and the breeze surrounds me.
I realise how bored I'd be if Eren was never with me, and I realise how fortunate I am to have him. He's always there to make me happy, and there's never a dull moment with him around.
I pull the quilts closer to my body. Even though it's cold, I don't want to go back inside.
