Ryan's POV
The door crashed open as they rushed
Abi through "Straight into theatre" one of the doctors announced on our arrival."Mr Tedder" A nurse tapped my shoulder "You will need to wait here" she said softly "Is there anyone I can call for you?"
"Yeah her parents" I manage, suddenly the doors burst open again and I see Leroy rushing towards me.
"How is she?" He gasped out of breath.
"I don't know, they have taken her straight to theatre" Leroy put his hand on my shoulder as I leant back against the wall.
"She's a fighter Ryan, she won't give up without a fight" he exhaled, Leroy had always been a gentle giant at heart. It's times like this I remembered Leroy was more than Abi's bodyguard he was her family too.

I had no idea how long it had been, 36 people had passed me in the corridor as I waited for news on Abi. Mostly nurses and few doctors and some patients, every time a doctor passed my heart stopped. Leroy was right beside me, he hadn't moved not even when Tony called him. Stella and Frank came through the door in a rush "Ryan" Stella stuttered as she got closer "What's happening?"
I couldn't answer I just looked at the door, the last thing I expected to see was Nick walk through them "No" I shook my head and he paused.
"I just want to make sure she's okay" Nick looked at the ground and the back up at me, I don't know what happened. I found myself flying forwards towards him in some form of rage.
"OKAY? DOES THIS LOOK OKAY? I SWEAR TO GOD IF SHE DIES...ITS ON YOU, DO YOU HEAR ME? YOU DID THIS YOU SON OF A BITCH" I felt Leroy and Frank holding me back, Stella just looked bewildered.
"Nick you should go" Stella spoke above the crazy. She waited for him to dissappear, before turning back to me "What the hell happened? What did you mean it's on him...Ryan?"
"They had a fight..." I couldn't even say it.
"And?" Franks teeth gritted together
"He pushed her and she fell onto the counter" I could hardly breathe as the anger took over again "I need some air" I crashed through the double door and down a corridor towards an entrance. Frank was right behind me. He sat down on the curb next to me.
"I knew it was a bad idea to let her continue..." Frank cut me off.
"Ryan we all did, but you were the only one who had the balls to say so" Frank smiled weakly.
"She asked me to save them" I don't even know why I blurted it out like that "The babies, she said if it came to this I needed to promise her I would save them"
"Shit, what did you tell her?" Frank seemed sympathetic.
"I said no" I replied honstly "I told her I couldn't live without her and I wouldn't put their lives before hers, what kind of father does that make me?"
"Not a bad one, Ryan I know everyone thinks they understand what's happening right now. I mean we all love Abi, she is my daughter. But I honestly believe that out of everyone you are the one with the most to lose here" Franks words hit me hard "You don't need to explain yourself to anyone, I'm grateful you tried to make her see sense. I'm also grateful for the beating you gave Nick" I look up quickly.
"How did you know?" I wondered, Frank chuckled silently.
"Nick has bruises on his face, and you have grazed knuckles. It's hardly rocket science even for an old man like me" Frank guessed I was still unsettled "She isn't going anywhere, I mean let's face it when has anyone been able to make her do something she didn't want to?" I raised my eyebrows at the idea.
Suddenly my cellphone rang inside my pocket "Hello" I answered quickly when I saw it was Leroy "We're coming now" Frank stood up and follow me back inside the hospital.
"What's going on?" I asked an official looking man, guessing he could he a surgeon.
"Mr Tedder?" The man asked I nodded quickly, I was desperate for some answers.
"Yeah" I nodded as Stella, Frank and Leroy gathered around me "How is she?"
"Your wife is stable" relief rushed through Me, I ran my hand through my hair.
"Is she going to be okay?" Frank interrupted.
The doctor looked uncomfortable "Perhaps we could talk in private, Mr Tedder"
"It's fine she'd want them to know" I look at Stella.
"The force from the collision caused the placenta to detach, that's why Abigail lost so much blood" he explained.
"Buts she's alright now though right?" I asked instantly.
"It was touch and go for a while, but as I said before after a blood transfusion we managed to stabilise her. I don't see any reason why she won't make a full recovery" the doctor explained, but I couldn't shake the fact he still looked concerned.
"And the babies" Stella asked, it shocked me that I hadn't thought to ask this question.
"The delivery went very smoothly, however due to the premature birth I'm afraid they are both in the neonatal unit" I look at him.
"Can I see them?"
"Of course" the doctor smiles as we all follow him
X-x-x
My emotions were mixed as I walked down the corridor behind the doctor, he opened the door to the neonatal unit with a pin number "Here they are?"
I heard Stella gasp behind me "They're so tiny" and she was right, their skin was almost translucent and the both had little hats on pink on the girl and blue on the boy.
As I continued to watch them, something took over me. A love filled me like nothing I've known before, suddenly I understood Abi's want to protect them and keep them safe no matter what it took "She weighs 3lb exactly" a nurse smiled at us "She is the bigger one of the two"
The more I looked at her the more I could see Abi in her, she had her mother's nose and lips. I moved over a little to look at my boy. He was smaller but still as beautiful "He's a little smaller, 2 pound 9. But don't worry he is a little fighter, they both are"
"Would you like to go and see your wife now Mr Tedder?" The doctor asked from behind me. I nodded desperately, I needed to see Abi.
X-x-x
'Abigail Tedder' the sign above Abi's head matchd the signs that were hanging around the twins cribs 'Baby Tedder Girl' and 'Baby Tedder Boy'
I walked closer to the bed and watched as Abi's chest rose and fell, the doctor had told me Abi was still unconcious due to the blood loss. I took her hand in mine and brushed it against my lips, she didn't so much as flinch. I could feel the tear's burning as they formed in my eyes "I can see now why you were so eager to protect them" I sniffed as I ran my hand over her face. I pulled the chair behind me closer to the bed and sat on it, still keeping hold of her hand "You have given me so much Abigail Tedder, I love you with all I am" she was so still.
I rested my head down on the bed and felt my eyes getting heavier and heavier until...
