Of course you all know who that is ---------------> Josh!
As I walked around the rescue and looked at the dogs. I let out a sigh as I looked around. I went through most of the dogs and I didn't see anything that just popped out. That was until I saw an that made me smile. I read the information card and saw it was a Red Merle Australian Shepherd; who looked sad. I knelt down and put my hand out so the dog could sniff me.
"You found Harley." A man laughed as he walked up to me.
"Harley?" I laughed.
"Yea the man who owned her named her after some comic book person." He shook his head and sighed.
"Harley Quinn? That's great! What's her temperament?" I smiled at the dog licked my hand and whined at me.
"She's a great dog from what we were told. She's just touchy when it comes to strangers. As long as they don't scare her, she's fine. You wanna meet her?" He stood up to open the pen.
"Sure." I smiled as the dog started to bounce around and bark.
"She seems to like you." He gave a laugh as Harley ran to me and bounced.
"I guess so. Are these hard dogs to have?" I rubbed her body and laughed at the little nub she had for a tail.
"They just need to run and play. Brushed every so often. She really is a great dog. She's been here 4 months." He looked kind of sad that no one wanted her.
"I think she'd be a good dog. I'd love to give her a home." I had a big smile on my face as I looked at the dog laying at my feet.
2 hours later I walked out of the shelter with my new dog. I had a new friend who was happy to be out. We made a few stops before I took her home and set up her crate. I was told that was the best way to teach her where her place was. So I gave it a shot. I put food and water for her before I went to get ready for work. I left out some chew sticks and toys for while I was gone. I had the best thoughts that things would be ok when I got home.
It had been two weeks since I brought Harley home. I came home from work, pleased that my home was in one piece. Harley was in her crate looking at me, as if she knew she had to wait for me to call her. I patted my leg and she came running. I gave her love then got ready for bed. I had 3 days off to do as I please. I knew one thing I wanted to do. I sent a text to Megan to set up a time for me to see her boyfriend and his friends practice. I took Harley for a quick walk before then turned in. I needed sleep.
I woke up to Harley barking at the door the next day. I let out a yawn as I grabbed my robe and went to check the door. I pulled Harley back and told her to go to bed. She went to her crate and laid down until she was told to move.
"Yea?" I let out a yawn when I saw Megan.
"Hey!! When did you get a dog?" She let out a laugh as I let her in.
"A few weeks ago. Got tired of coming home to an empty house. So why are you here at 8?" I went to make some tea as she sat on the couch.
"So what's her name? Is she friendly?" Megan smiled as she took the cup of tea.
"Harley, she's sweet. It takes a bit for her to warm up though. Just let her come to you." I smiled as I sipped my tea. I called Harley over and she started to sniff at Megan.
"She's kinda big....." Megan gave a soft laugh as Harley licked her.
"She's actually a good size. The vet said she's kind of small for an Australian. She's sweet though." I gave a small laugh as Harley brought Megan a toy.
