"Why did I walk home....why?" I said as I sat in the cold room of the police station. I was wrapped in a blanket, sitting in a metal chair in a room with a mirror. I felt like was about to be interrogated for something I didn't even do. The coffee cup was shaking in my hands, and not from the cold. My nerves were completely shot. All of this happened in one night. I was scared for my life....sweet little old me from the small town just got myself into trouble, and I only got here a few months ago...

"Have a good Night Nicki," said Cassandra as I hung up my apron and put on my coat.

"Thanks, you too!" I called after grabbing my purse and made my way outside. I hadn't gotten around to buying myself a car since I got here. My apartment was only a few blocks away. I walked on and kept going until I reached the intersection. It was about 8:30pm, and the street lights were barely coming on. My heels clicked as I walked on, my working skirt floating up to where I had to hold it down. I turned the corner and walked. Some of the guys in their cars were cat calling and whistling. I shook my head as I blushed from embarrassment. Honestly, I think my boss is a perv. The fact we have to wear these skirts is really crazy. I can always feel him staring at my butt all the time, and it's not hard to miss either. I was glad I wore shorts that day. I stopped as many cars were driving, and the walking sign was a red hand. I watched as they drove on, stopping and going with ease. I hated city traffic. It was to cramped and crowded and many people were aggressive drivers. The walking sign turned white, and I began I walked on when a car was about to hit me, but hit the brake on time, thank God.

"Hey!! Get out the way!" The older man growled.

"I've got the right of way dumb ass!!" I shouted as I reached the sidewalk. He skidded off, and I shook m head. I had to toughen up when I got here. I'm still sweet natured, but I just don't take shit from anybody anymore. At least I think I do. I walked on, the road went silent, nothing but the sound of the people in the diner I walked past chatting. The smell of baked bready hit my nose. It smelled great, especially in the morning. I was right next to Ordell's Bakery , where they had the best pumpernickel and wheat bread in all of L.A. I always buy my loaves from there. I heard shouting, I thought nothing of it, probably just something. I did pull my purse closer to me, and walked a little faster, but the shouting just kept getting louder, and more understandable.

"So....you thought wouldn't find your ass huh Jaden?" I shook it off. I turned the corner of the building, which was a yoga class building, and saw them a man and two others standing in front of another man, who was on his knees. The street light showed their faces well. The guy on the floor was beaten with bruises. Blood all over his shirt and on the concrete floor.

"Please...I-I ain't said nothing Mr. Gavala, honest!!" He begged. I just stood there. Before I could say a thing. I saw the gun, the flash, and the man falling face down onto the ground, blood pouring from his head. I couldn't scream...I froze stiff. I backed away, when they turned my way.

"Hey....did you see that?"

"Get That Girl!!" I ran...I ran until my thighs began to burn, but I couldn't stop. They'd catch me if I didn't stop. I ran, going through alley ways. I made a wrong turn. Mistake of mine. I turned and saw all three of them walking towards me.

"What were you doing there?"

"N-Nothing,"

"What did you see?!" The one with the t shirt and jeans, still blood stained from his victim.

"I-I didn't see anything!" I stuttered as he stepped closer to me. He grabbed my wrist, and looked me in the eyes. His glare was cold, and I shuttered. He pulled out a pocket knife, and showed me the blade.
