I peeked my head out of the door, finding no one in sight. I held the gun, drawn and loaded. There was silence, nothing. It made me uneasy.
"Is it safe?" Nicki asked behind me.
"I'm not sure," I look at her, then look back. she tiptoes out towards me and holds to my uninjured shoulder. I felt a sensation go through me. I placed my hand over hers, reassuring her that I was there, and ready to protect her.
"Come on...but be quiet," I say and she nods against me neck. We walk along slowly, but the silence was eerie and made my heart race.
"I don't like this J," She said, holding to my arm tightly.
"Neither do I," I say and stop, checking behind us and on our sides in case of an ambush. We continue on until we reached the main foyer, and walk in. The door right close for us to make our exit.
"Leaving so soon?" Nicki was then yanked away from me, and guns were loaded and cocked, pointed in my direction, at least 30 of them all holding guns with smirks or hard scowls on their faces. Nicki yelled to be let go as the man wrapped his arm around her neck and held her at gun point. Another grabbing the gun out of my hand, and pushing me to my knees.
"Damn you," I growled as he came down the stairway, walking right up to me with an annoying, cheeky grin on his face.
"You actually thought it would be that easy to get out of here?" He chuckled, he grabbed my still bleeding shoulder and put pressure on it. I groaned, and fell to my knees in pain. I tried to pry his fingers from my shoulder, but he only gripped tighter, making it even more painful. Nicki was struggling still in the man's arms as he held her tightly, she looked like she was choking a little.
"Oh I thought you wanted her to live Nicki, otherwise you would have stopped her," he said toying with her. Messing with her hair as she shed some frightened tears at the fact there was a gun to her head, and also probably, losing me .
"Let her go Gavala,"
"So she can testify against me? I don't think so. As soon as they call a mistrial due to her missing on the day, we will be on the first flight to my private island near Africa,"
"You can't do this!" Nicki cried as she struggled on. The man placed the barrel of the gun hard against her left temple. She stopped, whimpering a little, looking me dead in the eyes. I felt myself falling apart, I kept my gaze on her, I could see her shaking.
"Now all I have to do is get you out of the way," He smirked, grabbing a gun from one of his men. He held it to my head, and I backed away.
"Say your final goodbyes to each other," Nicki looked at me and mouthed the words 'I love you," as tears steamed down her face. I mouthed it back to her as he cocked it and retightened his grip on the handle. Nicki was breathing hard, I looked away, waiting for the blow to come.
"NO!!" I shouted and got out of the guys grip and pulled Gavala's arm down, but I was too late, Janet fell to the floor, crying in pain. I ran to her, and held her as I saw a blood stain on the right side of her shirt, on the side of her stomach. I held her head.
"Janet!" I hugged her.
"Nicki...The gun," She said as she was in a lot of pain. I grabbed it and held it at Gavala as I tried to keep from shaking.
"You won't pull that trigger," he said. I held it up.
"Give it here," he said, but I wasn't about to let him get away with killing Janet. She sat up on her own.
"Give me the gun!" His voiced bellowed, but I held my ground.
"No! I won't let you hurt her anymore! Leave us alone," I say. He got closer, and I pulled the trigger and missed. he snatched the gun away from my hands, and smacked me to the floor. Janet held me, though I could tell it hurt her.
