I woke up looking straight at Janet's sleeping face. She looked so cute while she was sleeping. I sat up and stretched with a yawn, letting the sheets slip down my sides. The sun was shining brightly through the window, shining right on the bed. I looked over at Janet as she was fast asleep. I wished to wake up to her beautiful face all the time. I walked my way to the kitchen and began making breakfast for us. I smelled something odd about the eggs and pancake mix. I sniffed it a little, and the smell was odd to me. I decided to just eat a bowl of cereal. Janet trudged in afterwards, grabbing the same thing.
"What's up with the pancake mix and eggs Nicki?" She asked.
"It smells funny. I think it might have gone bad,"
"Pancake mix?" She asked with a confused look on her face. She took the box and dumped it out on her wooden table. She observed it a little.
"Damn," She said as she pushed it all back into the box and then threw it away.
"What is it?"
"They doped it up,"
"What?"
"They put cocaine in it and probably in the salt shaker as well," She said. I could see the gears in her head turning as she thought about it, her face fuming as she began to grow angrier. She opened the door, finding one of the officers standing guard.
"Call Captain. I want every name of the people on the clean up crew who fixed up the house...now!!" She ordered and he nodded, taking out his walkie-talkie and he nodded at her to tell her it was done. She then walked back into the house.
"Come on...we have to check all the food, in case they added anything to it," She said and then I did so searching through all the food. In all, the ice cream, bagels, milk and coffee creamer were all drugged. They even laced the coffee filters with it.
"How can they do this?" I asked.
"They find ways of making it easy to get to anyone. We're going to have to be more careful with who we trust...that includes the men outside. We don't know if Gavala had paid them off or not," She said locking the door and looking out the window. She looked back at me and I guess I was crying. I didn't really notice it because I was to busy shaking with fear, thinking about what would happen if he did get me. She walked over to me and placed both of her hands on my cheeks, wiping away my tears with her thumbs. She was a few inches taller than me, so I had to look up into her eyes.
"Don't be afraid. I will protect you ok?" I nodded as she hugged me. I felt so comforted by her touch.
"Thank you," I ay and she gives a smile. The next trial doesn't begin until 6 days from now, which was too long in my opinion. It was going to be long and dangerous for us, but we'll make it.
Three days had passed, and no one else was trying to get us. Nicki thought it was a good sign, but I knew Gavala was way to quiet for me...It's normally when there is silence is when you don't know the predator is going to strike. I tried to play it off, but my instincts were in overdrive, and I had to be on High alert. The day dragged on as we made our way around the house. I had a wii, so we decided to play tennis, one on one. So far she was beating with 30, while I only had 10.
"You are so cheating!" I shouted with a laugh as I swung, hitting the animated ball over the net.
"I am not, you just suck at tennis," She laughed, returning the serve, and I hit back with the top person close to the net. We pin-balled back and forth until She it the ball just right, spiking it over the net, and I missed it. She won, she was jumping up and down like a little kid.
"Hahaha!!" She taunted. I rose my eyebrow, then added a devilish grin. She saw me, and backed away.
"Do-don't do it!" She ran to the bed room and ended up getting herself cornered between the bed and the dresser. She tried going over the bed and I tackled her, pinning her down.
