Detective Janet Jackson, one of the best in the L.A.P.D was a stubborn, difficult, and down right cold hearted woman who wanted things done her way or no way. With a horrible past, feeling guilt at the death of her partner. She works alone, and when...
The lecture on the many mental illnesses of the brain was rather boring. I already read ahead in our book, but I paid attention anyways, in case I missed any notes.
"Ms. Maraj?"
"Yes Professor Howard?"
"What are some of the warning signs of Paranoid Schizophrenia?"
"Uh, Depression and withdrawal from those they love. An expressionless gaze, insomnia, and over reaction to sharp critism,"
"Very good. Now Mr. Hill maybe you should have paid more attention instead of jerking off in the bathroom with Ms. Jones," The whole class oohed and I held in my laugh. The lecture continued. Soon it was our bell, and I grabbed my bag, heading for the door.
"Ms. Maraj, a moment please?" I nodded and walked down the steps to him. He was rather short, but a decent looking guy with a nice look to him.
"You are doing wonderfully. I was hoping, you'd be willing to take the exam early,"
"You think I'm ready?" I asked, my heart beginning to leap.
"Yes. I believe you are," I smiled at that.
"Let's get you the paper work," he said as he and I walked over to his desk. He gathered the pink sheets. I heard popping outside, then a scream. The lock down bell sounded.
"What the hell is going on?!" He said as he rushed to the door and locked it, shutting the blinds. He pulled me under his desk. I heard the popping again and again. I screamed as a window broke. The banging on the door told me someone wanted to get in here.
"Oh God," professor Howard said. There was a sudden silence. We both looked up.and saw no one there. I was shaking.
"Are they gone?" I asked.
"I'm not sure....its too quiet," he said, peering over the desk. Suddenly there was a crack of wood.
"We have to get to the closet room, now!" He pulled me up and we ran to the closet area and he locked the door behind us. I sat in the corner, blocked off by an overturned table.
"Don't worry Ms. Maraj. The door is heavy, hard for anyone to put a bullet through. We should be fine until the authorities arrive,"
"What about everyone else?"
"We won't know until we leave," he whispered. He sat with me, making sure he kept his body in front, in case someone came in. We both starled at the rumaging going on. Papers flying, banging of things being thrown on to the floor. We couldn't hear any talking, not a peep. A shadow stopped in front of the door. Howard kept me behind him. The knob jimmied, they even tried shooting open. I was scared they were going to get to us.
My Car Drifted to a stop at the curb as I saw the entire campus standing outside, a safe distance away from the building. I got out, pulling my gun and flashed my badge to an officer. I tightened the vest around my chest.
