I sat in the chair, Captain Nelson next to me as we stared at the man as he sat, a hard glare still held on his face.
"I didn't kill anyone," He said, for the 4th time.
"Well based on these sketches, I'd say your a pretty close resemblance to our killer," Prince said, leaning back in his chair, his arms crossed.
"It's like all African American people say, we all don't look alike," he said smugly.
"Oh, pulling the race card now aren't we? Isn't that us 'African American people' say when we get ourselves in trouble, but that won't work her buddy,"
"My name is not Buddy, It's Paul," he said as he leaned forward, I guess trying to intimidate me.
"You don't scare me," I say, copying his movement. I sat there, waiting for him to do something stupid.
"Where were the night of March 10th?"
"Eating a home cooked meal with my mother and half sister. We always do that on Tuesdays,"
"What time did you get there?"
"8:30. I stayed until 11pm, chatting with them and watching a few old westerns," He smirked. He had a solid alibi, but we'd have to check to make sure. There was a knock on the window, letting us know someone needed something. I left, while captain stayed. I walked out and Toni was standing there.
"What's up?"
"It happened again," she said.
"What?"
"Officer Irene Melvin....she was in her route when she was taken. Same MO....," said. I frowned.
"He still could have done it,"
"I know that, but without evidence we cant hold him,"
"But we have the sketches! Why don't we put him in a line up?"
"We don't have hard evidence Janet...without it, this case will sink in court. Cut him loose," she said, shaking her head. I cursed under my breath and walked back in.
"You're free to go," he smiled. standing and leaving, We glared at each other, the smile on his face angered me. Something was off about him, and I intend to find out what.
"What-,"
"Toni said there was another murder and we need hard evidence....dammit," I frowned...he had to have slipped up somewhere...there has to be a discrepancy in his work somewhere that we just haven't found. Both Nelson and I walked out, watching him stand there.
"I'll need my dog back,"
"Right...Nicki has him, I'll got pick him up," I said as I made my way out. Just because he's off the hook now, doesn't mean that I trust him to go to my house with my girlfriend by herself. I walked out and to my car, then drove, telling the bastard I'd meet him at the park. I entered the apartment to find Nicki being attacked.
"AHH!! Baby! Help!....Th-They're doubling up on me!!" she giggled as the two dogs licked her, keeping her trapped on the carpet floor. I chuckled as she tried to sit up, only to be knocked back down by the black and white boarder collie.
"I don't think I want any part in that mess boo," I say.
"Babe!!!" She screamed, laughing. I shook my head, and called for Jade who stopped and walked over to me, her tail wagging like crazy, happy to see me home I guess.
"Wyatt, down boy!!" Nicki said, and he backed away sitting, wagging his tail with his head tilted to the side.
"Wow he listens better than Jade," I laugh.
