I sat in the waiting room of the Hospital, waiting, rather calmly for the doctor to come and tell us how Janet was doing. She was shot with an arrow, and had bled out slightly on our way here, but she was up and talking, kissing me every chance she got, no matter how dizzy it made her. I wasn't as worried this time, I guess because it wasn't as serious as getting shot twice, but in any case, I still worried about her. It's hard not to. I was on my phone, watching my twitter feed, to help pass the time. I heard quick walking heading towards me, making me look up and see Whitney and Toni walking towards me. I stood and greeted them with a small smile, to let them know everything was OK.

"How is she?" Toni asked, frantically, worrying more than I was at the moment.

"Not sure, but she was up and talking with me the entire ride here, despite her injuries," I told them.

"Is it bad?" Whitney asked

"No...other than the arrow wound in her shoulder, and injured ankle, she's seemed to be doing alright, but...I'm not too sure," I say. I wasn't as worried, but still a little bit. I mean, the guy was crazy, who could have come up with any way to kill her. We sat and chatted for a short while before a nurse walked over to us.

"Friends of Detective Jackson?" she asked. We all nodded and stood up.

"Is everything alright?"

"Very. Her ankle is broken, so it'll take time to heal, and the shoulder wounded already cauterized and took care of itself, we just bandaged it. The bruising on her neck should go away soon, and she's asking for you...and annoying her doctor so much, he's already considering discharging her early," she chuckled, which made me shake my head with a smile. That woman hates hospitals with a passion.

"Follow me, and I'll take you to her room," she said and we followed her down the corridor.

"Bruising on her neck?" Toni whispered to me.

"That's not his MO,"

"It was the way his sister killed herself, so he decided that Jay deserved the same fate as that...We were lucky enough to get her down in time before she could...you know," I say, not wanting to relive the moment. She almost died...it frightened me to know she almost did, had it not been for Captain Nelson and I.

"And what happened to the Perp?" Whitney asked.

"I don't know...he ran out after he pushed Jay off the chair...honestly I hope he got shot down for all the pain he's caused," I said, As I clenched my fist. The though of him escaping and killing more officers and loved ones sickened me. We turned the corner and entered a room. It was quiet except for the heart monitors beeping and the low hum of the television on. I peaked around the curtain, finding my girl, dozing off to sleep. Her shoulder was bandaged, and her ankle was wrapped and in a plaster cast. She had a band aid over her left cheek, and a few bruises on her face, and some from the corners of her mouth, and of course, the darkest bruise around her neck. I crept in, and sat by her, she looked at me, and gave a small, pained smile, her eyes glittering a bit.

"Hi," She said. Her voice was still raspy and choked.

"Did they have to sedate you because you were acting crazy?" I raised an eyebrow. She gave a chuckle.

"No...I accidentally rolled over onto the morphine button," I giggled as she adjusted, feeling her shoulder.

"It hurts more than I thought it did," She said as she looked me in the eyes. Her doe-like eyes big, and dilated from the drugs, and probably exhaustion.

"Yeah... you're lucky though. You survived it all," I say, brushing her hair with my fingers. It was a tangled mess. Sweated out and dirty from the soil and debris. She had dark circles around her eyes, telling me she hadn't slept in ages. I traced my fingers near her bruised neck, she shut her eyes, squinting when I ran over the dark red and black lines.
