Pine and maple syrup was all I could smell. If I do say so myself, it's the best smell ever. It smells so delicious and delightful. Mmm. I could really go for some pancakes right now. With lots of maple syrup. Yum. I got snapped out of la la land when Courtney mindlinked me.

'Tori? Who is he and why is he holding you like that?'

That's when I could feel the buff arms wrapped around my body. I looked up to see one good looking guy.

My oh my. Sweet Moon Goddess. Who is he?

That's when I felt the sparks. I could also hear my wolf, Amber, practically screaming one word; Mate.

Oh no no no no no. This can't be happening. Not now. Not ever. Well, not ever. I just turned 18. I haven't done anything yet and I've already found him.

I could hear his growls even as I'm thinking. It's practically shaking the ground.

'I-I think he's my mate,' I mindlinked back to Courtney.

I came back when I heard another deafening growl. "Mine. Don't touch what's mine," he said.

Oh god. That voice. It's the perfect amount of deep.

I started struggling in his arms after he said that. Yeah I may be his mate, but I'm not his. Or at least not yet.

"Mate what are you doing," he questioned me.

"Mate? Me? No. Yeah, no thanks. I don't have the time for a mate. I'm a Beta. I'm too busy. So bye, bye. Go back to where you came from. There may be sparks and that delicious smell of yours but no thanks," I said as I walked out of his arms and a few feet away from him.

I need a plan. Not a good one. But just a plan.

You know how in all those movies or books when the girl meet the guy she's destined to be with, and she well, runs. Well, that happened to be my not-so-good plan. I ran.

'Run,' was my short mindlink to the girls. Each and every one of them. CeCe, Alana, Alex, Rose, and Courtney.

When I said run, I ran. I ran like the wind. It seemed like my drunkness has worn off. I was now in the woods. If I  looked to my side, I could see all my friends running right beside me but I knew we weren't alone.

As soon as we made it out of the bar/club, I heard a roar and ran faster, if possible.

All I know is that I can't be caught. I've never seen Alpha Valentino before, so that could be his Beta.

Either way, I heard the Midnight Blood Pack is ruthless. I'm not ruthless. I wouldn't fit in. I'd be the odd one out. I hate that.

I can see our pack house. I think I can make it, lock the doors, and just live like that. Yeah. Good plan.

Food! What about food? Ah ha. I could just pay people to get me food. I don't have any money....

I now need a plan B.

I ran into the house with my friends and locked it.

"What- What was that," Alex asked, panting.

"My mate," I said dejectedly.

"What," they all yelled in unison.

"Why in the world would you run from your mate," Alana asked.

"I just turned eighteen. I haven't even had a taste of freedom yet and the man I'm supposed to be destined with was right in front of me," I couldn't help but say.

"Toria," my sister called me by my special name for family. "I turned eighteen just two minutes after you and I've already found my mate, but that's only because Liam turned eighteen last year, but that's beside the point. Some people never find their other half."
