So I've finally posted this fic, I hope you like it, I will be updating it (hopefully) every day! (I'm not a medical professional, so I apologise in advance if any facts are wrong.)

"Mrs Beauchamp, your needed in resus, Jacob, you too please."

Damit. Connie thought. She could never focus while in the same room as Jacob.

"This is Dan, 17, fallen from a wall aprox a metre and a half tall while drunk, landed on his head, query fractured skull. GCS 70 on arrival and fallen by 5 on route. We've given him 5 of morphine and 10 of paracetamol. He was KO'd briefly at the scene. "

"Ok thanks Dixie, Jacob, can you.." Connie had lost the power of speech once again. This cannot defeat me, she thought. I can concentrate.

"Boss, are you ok?" Came the the comforting voice of Jacob.

"Yeah good." Connie couldn't take it anymore, she liked Jacob so much, but she couldn't go out with him, could she? Her reputation would be ruined, her icy exterior would be no more. She couldn't sacrifice that. But could she? Connie needed time to think. "Zoe, could you take over here please?" Connie walked out of resus and into her office, in deep thought.

About an hour later, Connie heard a knock at her door. She could already tell who it was. "Boss you should go home, you look really tired."

"I'm good Jacob. Anyway I never said you could enter, and it's Mrs Beauchamp to you"

"Yes boss." Jacob replied with a cheeky grin, Connie just rolled her eyes, trying not to grin as well. "Well if you don't want to go home, could I tempt you for a drink at Albies?"

Connie was in deep thought for what felt like hours, but was in fact 30 seconds. "I think I'll have to pass." Damn. Connie already knew it was the wrong answer, she wanted Jacob so bad it was tearing her apart.

"I don't ask twice" Jacob said, wondering about why Connie was being so cold towards him, he was almost certain she liked him, but one thing he did know, he had never seen anyone more beautiful than Connie.

Again, Connie's icy exterior had taken over, determined not to crack, she replied with a simple, "I know."

Jacob walked out of her office, feeling very confused. After he shut the door, he stood there for a minute or two, completely baffled. I thought she liked me? Was I just imagining it? After a while he returned to reality, to hear quiet sobbing noises from behind the door.

As Jacob opened the door, he found the usually stubborn clinical lead with makeup down her face, revealing the tired circles under her eyes, looking really vulnerable.
