I open my eyes to see a very furious looking maa with a bouquet of flowers in her arms. She walked over towards the bedside table and placed the bouquet on top of it.

"Maa... What happened?" I hesitate as I look anywhere but her eyes. It was dark now, my curtains were closed and I was in my bed. I suddenly remember what had happened. I was in the park when I heard the bad news. My cousin was murdered. A lone tear fell down my face as I turned my gaze towards maa, wondering whether she knew or not.

"What HAPPENED?" she screamed, as some tears started to fall down her face. "What happened was when I heard the news of our sweet, sweet, sweet Mahira being murdered, I rushed home. I rushed home only to find my ill daughter no where in the house, just her coat was missing. Not even a single note, I had no idea where YOU WERE. I THOUGHT SOMETHING BAD HAD HAPPENED TO YOU ELIZA, I THOUGHT YOU WERE MURDERED ASWELL, I couldn't cope with that, losing my only daughter. I'd only have my three stupid boys who were always out. My sweet little girl," she whispered the last part and engulfed me into a hug. I put my arms around her and started to sob. And I could hear maa crying too. I gently rubbed her back as tears streamed down my face. We stayed in this embrace for what felt like hours before maa pulled away. "A man found you in the park, you had fainted. Your lucky Eliza, it's hard to find good men around like that. He carried you all the way back home when he found our address in your money purse. He later came back with that flower bouquet. So sweet. Anyways, come downstairs, I'll make you something to eat." She wipes the tears away from my face before leaving the room.

I looked at the flower bouquet. There were dozens of pink roses wrapped in brown paper. It was really sweet. I grabbed the bouquet and sniffed them. Beautiful. Then a white page in between the flowers caught my eyes, so I pulled it out. Must be from Sam. It read:

"If you still want to join us, give a call. We'll be waiting to hear your answer
Call me:
07xxxxxxxx"

I slipped the note into my trouser pocket. I needed time to decide. Then, placing the bouquet back onto the bedside table, I get out of my bed and go downstairs.

"Maa do you know what happened to Mahira?" I ask, she doesn't say anything. "Maa?" I find her in the kitchen in silence, tears streaming down her face.

"She's in a better place now Eliza," maa whispers, her voice cracking half way through. "Your fufu has gone mad, she refuses to speak to anyone and all she does is cry. I'm so worried about her."

"Maa, hush, fufu will be okay," I tell her, "but we need to make sure you're okay aswell, or else who will comfort her when she needs you?"

She wipes the tears from her face before turning to face me. "You are right, I need to stay strong for her."

"H-have you told everyone else?"
