Chapter 14

Sadly today is the last day back home before we head back to college. I roll over to look at the clock and then realize it's already 10 am. I realize I should probably get up and spend time with family since Again, last day here. I pull back the cozy warm blanket and climb out of the bed. I walk downstairs feet sliding across the cold floor and as I reach the bottom of the stairs my mom and Luke are already sitting on the couch in the living room having a conversation

"Good morning!" My mom says as she spots me

"Morning" I smile tiredly and take a seat on the couch beside Luke

"Good morning" Luke says kissing my cheek, I smile and kiss his cheek back.

"How did you sleep?" My mom asks watching me as I rub my eyes and start pulling my hair back into a messy bun.

"Pretty well actually" I smile.

"Good, I can't believe you two already have to leave today" my mom sighs dramatically, maybe a little too dramatically for my likings.

"It was amazing and fun being here ma'am" Luke speaks up with a small smile

"Oh it was great having you both here!" My mom says back and stands up

"I'll go make you kids some breakfast how's that?" My mom says.

"Why don't we all go out to IHOP or bob Evans or something so you don't have to cook breakfast?" I ask

"I agree that is a good idea, you've done nothing but cook for us all week" Luke chimes in

"Yeah mom I'll pay" I say trying to convince her as I watch the expression on her face go from worried to a little relieved.

"Oh alright" she says

"Let me go get dressed really really quickly and grab my wallet" I say kissing Luke's cheek, standing up, kissing my moms cheek and then dashing up the stairs, as I'm running up the stairs I hear my mom say

"She's something special"

"She is, I wouldn't replace her for the world" I hear Luke say back, I smile to my self widely and continue running until I hit the bedroom, I rummage through my suitcase until I find some clothing, nothing to fancy, just some black leggings and a "I woke up like this" tank top and also some boots and a cardigan, I fix my messy bun a little bit adding some Bobby pins and hairspray into it and then grab ahold of my wallet that is laying on my bedside table, I spray some perfume onto myself and walk back down the stairs

"How fast was that" I grin approaching my mom and Luke.

"Actually pretty fast for you" Luke winks and laughs, I pout and laugh along. We walk out side and to my moms minivan, I take the passenger seat beside my mom and Luke sits in the row behind.

"You know you both will have to do surprise visits more like this" my mom winks

"well for Christmas I believe we are going to Luke's parents but if that ends quickly I'm sure we can come up here for a while" I tell her as she drives and I look back and Luke and Luke nods in agreement.

"Oh no don't cut a trip short just because of your mother, I just miss my baby" she says and I can hear the tears she's forcing back.

"Aw mom" I say

The rest of the ride is mainly silent as my mom drives, Luke texts and I stare out the window lost in thought. Soon enough we arrive at ihop and walk inside

"Table for 3" my mom tells the large male who is showing people to their table's

"We're full" he says in a very deep and scary voice as he glares at all three of us.
