Who else could it have been?

That lunch me, Hale and Nolan went to see Professor Ringwood in her office.

‘Why are we here again?’ Hale asked for the fourth time and I sighed.

‘To ask her why she took us out of break yesterday,’ I muttered, trying not to get angry with him.

I knocked tentatively on the door, expecting her to answer straight away, but she didn’t.

After a few minutes a pushed the door open tentatively to find the office trashed and Ringwood nowhere to be seen.

‘HALE!’ I yelled. I heard two sets of footsteps hurtle down the corridor towards me and the sharp intakes of breath as the boys saw the office.

‘Emma…’ Hale muttered and I turned around, mouth agape.

‘Why would she do this? Answer me that Hale before you pin it on her,’ I hissed and he recoiled.

‘Who else could it have been? Emma can read your mind, she knew you’d come asking Ringwood about the other day…’ Hale trailed off as I shook my head.

‘Ah but that’s where you wrong. She can’t read my mind, she never could. That’s why I don’t tell you about what we’re going to do until we’re doing it. It’s the only way to get around her mind reading abilities,’ I finished quietly, not expecting them to be as shocked as they were.

‘Wow…’ Nolan muttered and I shrugged it off.

‘But what could they have been looking for?’ I questioned, walking among the mess, trying to find a clue.

The chairs and tables were upturned, draws full of papers emptied onto the floor and trodden on, photo frames were smashed and there was a sticky red substance smeared across the floor.

‘Blood!’ Nolan exclaimed from behind me.

‘Whose do you think?’ Hale asked and we all answered: ‘Ringwood,’

We looked at each other’s stricken faces before taking off running down the corridor in the direction of the hall.

‘MR LEE? MR LEE!’ we yelled as we crashed through the hall doors to find the room empty.

‘Where could he..?’ Hale started but I was already running towards our Comeback Training classroom.

‘MR LEE!’ I yelled when I saw him sat behind his desk.

‘WHAT’S the matter?’ he asked and I tripped over my words as I attempted to catch my breath.

‘Ringwood… gone…office trashed… blood… help…’ I finished feebly, feeling the fear I’d pushed away whilst running creeping back as the adrenalin wore off. Ringwood is the only person capable of putting Emma in her place. I don’t want to know what will happen now she's gone.

Mr Lee stood up and beckoned me to follow him. We found the boys and went back to Ringwood’s office. He surveyed the damage and put some of the blood into a plastic bag before leading us into a strange back room behind the back wall of the office.

He started typing on a keyboard making a massive screen light up at the back of the room. It was a map of the school.

‘Nows when we see if Ringwood is on site, or who’s also unaccounted for.’ Mr Lee said, standing behind us as codes ran acros the screen. Before long a warning had loaded:
