{Potential trigger warning}

The 2 hour flight was uneventful, apart from managing to spill a drink all over my seat. But that's another story...

I listened to my playlist of The 1975. I don't know why but their music has a weird calming effect on me. I was incredibly nervous and their music actually helped cease my nerves a bit. They're so talented and their album is definitely one of my all time favourites.

After landing, I found my way through all the customs checks and baggage reclaim before making my way to the meeting area.

Being 5 foot 2 inches tall hence smaller than the majority of people, I was consumed by the crowds. I couldn't see over any of the other passengers' heads to see if Demi was here or not. I felt the familiar ache I got in my chest signalling my anxiety was rising. What if she wasn't here?

I managed to find an unoccupied space in the hall; between a coffee stall and a potted plant. I laid my hand on my heart, feeling the abnormal race of it's beat. I took a few deep breaths in until it felt vaguely normal again before reaching for my phone.

Demi: the airports so crowded so I got Mar to go in (15 mins ago)

Demi: have you found her? (12 mins ago)

Mar: I'm here ☺️ (11 mins ago)

Demi: Saskia?! (8 mins ago)

Mar: I'm by the seating area (7 mins ago)

Mar: can you see me? (6 mins ago)

Mar: ?? (5 mins ago)

Demi: Mar's says she can't find you?! Where are you? (3 mins ago)

Mar: Saskia where are you? (1 min ago)

Oh fuck, they sound pretty impatient and stressed. Well done Saskia, fucked up already.

I quickly dialled up Marissa, seeing as she was the one looking for me.

"Sask!" Mar answered immediately, sounding relieved, "where are you?"

"I'm by the coffee stall. I'm so sorry. It was just too busy and-" I started to sob. Demi and her were going to be so mad at me. They would send me back.

"Hey, hey," Mar said, trying to comfort me. "I'm coming over. It's okay."

Within 30 seconds she was by my side, pulling me into a tight hug.

"Let's get you home, huh?" She said, pulling back and rubbing my upper arm comfortingly. I nodded, sniffling and wiping the remnants of tears from my eyes. There was no need to shed water. Marissa didn't seem even the slightest bit frustrated at me after all...

Marissa took my suitcase in one hand and gripped my hand in the other. We fought through the crowds until we made it into the cool, December L.A. air.

She led my by the hand over to a Mercedes convertible (it had the roof up- you would freeze with it down at this time of year!). Immediately a small figure jumped out from the drivers seat.

"SASKIA!" Demi bellowed, running up to me and hugging me even tighter than Marissa had. "I've missed you!" I guess she's not mad at me either... phew!

I smiled at her dorkiness, "it's only been like a week!" I giggled,

"I still missed you," she pouted cutely.

"Lucky you're stuck with me now," I grinned evilly at her.

"I am very very lucky." She smiled sweetly before giving me another brief hug. "Should we get going?"

I nodded. Marissa had already put my case into the trunk whilst Demi and I's reunion had been going on, so we all jumped into the car and Demi started up the ignition.
