"Ms. Guevarra we can't just give away another million pesos to our factory workers just because they're less fortunate, the board of directors will surely raise both eyebrows at us once you sign that petition and check."
Attorney Luna persuaded the affluent CEO and her best friend because the latter is up again for another philanthropy far more serious than what she's done last year.
"But it's just a raise Batchi, it's already September so it'll look like it's part of the worker's holiday bonus or something. I want you to work it out. I want to give back to them; they deserve better. And we believe that a well-cared employee would be of better service for the company right? We can cut the bonuses of the richer employees then?" Althea suggested while she's trying to solve a Rubik's cube her back facing her lawyer and best friend.
"Are you really telling me to cut the bonuses of the richer employees and bosses to give it to our factory workers? Are you trying to get me killed Althea? They almost cut me off last year because I fought for us to have a fund raising campaign that didn't benefit us in the end and now this?"
"Then cut my bonus off and give them my salary for the next three months?" Althea plainly said
"Are you serious?" Batchi know for sure that Althea's serious, as hell but she just couldn't believe how far this woman is going for the sake of helping other people.
"Have we ever joked about helping people in need Batchi?" Althea turn to face the well-dressed lawyer as she settled the completed Rubik's cube by the table
"No. Never." Batchi shakily answered
"Then we're done? You'll give them my holiday bonus and three month salary, that'll amount to?"
"A million pesos." Batchi shortly answered
"Good we're settled then."
"For how long are you going to do this kind of charity Althea?"
"For how long my conscience would allow me. So that's basically for the rest of my life."
"You're being too hard on yourself."
"It's the only way I can make up for my sins. I'll just go for a drive. Do I have any appointment?"
"Sins you never did. Oh nothing so important, there's just one thing the final interview for the secretary position we need for you. Do you want to hold it yourself?"
"How many applicants qualified for the final interview?"
"Four."
"Are they interesting?"
"Kind of? 2 guys and 2 girls."
"Universities?"
"Two Eagles, one archer, one tamaraw."
"Cool. We'll see them by 11 am?"
"Sure."
"Right. I'll be back."
"You need a driver?"
"No. I'm fine."
"See you later then."
"See you."

On the other side of the looking glass, the 24-year-old Jade Dela Cruz is already frantic as she labored among the rush hour crowd of the infamous MRT line 3. She has an interview at the ACG Inc. at Shaw Boulevard at 11 in the morning sharp and it's already 9:45 on the clock and she's still at the Taft station; she's not even close to the counter because after the heavy downpour last night the station was flooded and was only cleared this morning. Today being a total disaster is still an understatement.
But Jade is pretty much determined at getting a job at the countries top manufacturing company where her brother Paul and Gab works as well. ACG Inc. isn't just the top manufacturing company but it is also known for the kind of care they are giving to their employees, from the bosses to the security guards or even the janitors and her brothers can attest to that.
Jade was about to take a step to the stairs as the line started moving, when a speeding SUV driver decided to wash off his tires on the nearby puddle of the last night's rain water causing a sprinkle to the people on the side walk among them was poor little Jade. And she confirmed it, today being a total disaster is still an understatement, yet she has no time to go home and change because it's already 10 o'clock, so she wipe herself up and just hoped for the best, good thing she followed Paul's advice to wear black.
Jade arrived at the humongous ACG Inc. building just fifteen minutes before her interview so she paid a short visit to the restroom to make sure she's presentable enough in front of the interviewer who ever they maybe. She was already on her way out when she bumped into another woman carrying a coffee cup that lavishly splashed on a part of her abdomen area.
"Oh my god!" Jade exasperated, she didn't know this day could get any better.
"Oh shoot! I'm so sorry miss I didn't see you there..."
"No it's fine, it's as if your apology can make this big ass stain disappear right at this very moment!" Jade continued while trying to pry on the coffee stain on her shirt
"I'm really sorry, here's my calling card, I'll pay for the damage, and I really have to go."
But Jade was so preoccupied to even notice that the stranger was already out of sight. When she was about to hurry out only 5 minutes before 11am she noticed the calling card beside her bag at the sink.
