Sublimity in the Simplest Things

It was never easy taking the truth that was harshly dropped on your feet as it is, when you've lived long enough with the lies they almost became their own versions of realities. But like what they always say, it is better to be slapped hard and get your teeth knocked out by the truth than to be kissed and be sexed up by the lies.

The roll for the justice my father's death long deserved was released three days after Batchi filed the charges, it was that fast mainly because we had the strongest, most important evidence there is, the truth straight from the felon's mouth.

"Guilty." Batchi triumphantly said, as she opened the front door of my house wide enough to let the breeze outside come in, and I was ready to jump off from the couch Jade and I was curled up since this morning, it was already two in the afternoon and we still haven't moved much, we're still in our sleeping clothes, we haven't eaten lunch too.

"Guilty?!" I exclaimed

"Guilty." Batchi nodded and Jade and I both jumped for joy, we commenced the tightest of all group hugs.

"Sherly will be moved to the women's correctional where she'll serve for her years in prison for being an accomplice to the crime. As for David we still have to find him so he can serve his own reclusion perpetua." Batchi detailed

"Haven't they found him yet?" Jade worried

"I'm afraid no, but I got him all covered up, it's not long till he resurface, he doesn't have anything after all." Batchi confidently said.

"Don't you worry love, we're safe, I made sure of that." I turned to Jade

"For now, you two go shower and change, Tito Albert will be discharged today right?" Batchi reminded us.

"Oh right yeah. Come on love." I revered as I pulled Jade upstairs.

"Tito are you sure you'll be fine here alone? You can just live with me you know?" I worried as Batchi and me helped Tito Albert into the ancestral house.

"Althea, I can take care of myself, and I missed this house. This place is still home to me." He sighed as he roamed his eyes around the unchanged interior of the almost 60 year-old house.

"Do you want me to tell Bernard's men to keep post here?" I asked

"No need for that Althea, we can't always live in fear you know? Remember what your father always say?" He sermon

"Life's too short?" I shook my head

"Life is too short to live it behind fear."

"Tito, better safe than sorry. I'll still ask Bernard to assign at least two or three guards here okay?"

"Whatever you say Miss Cojuangco." He joked raising both his hands in surrender, and we all resorted in laughter, the first since his return last week.

"You know what I am actually thinking right now?" Tito Albert suddenly blurted as we all settle by the living room, while the helpers served us some refreshements.

"Yes Tito?" I answered before sipping some orange juice.

"You're birthday's happening this week Althea." he reminded

"Shoot! Yes Althea it's on Thursday!" Batchi exclaimed slightly slapping her forehead.

"What do you want to do on your birthday love?" Jade turned to me, ah yes, my first birthday with her.

"Hmmm, I think I wanna celebrate it by coming back to the company and throwing the a big party for the partners, the employees and all? Because it's also the 35th anniversary of ACG." I thoughtfully answered
