Spate of Abominable Circumstances

Benjamin's eyes widen and pointed behind them and as Anthony turned, Althea only heard three gunshots and her beloved father dropped on the red carpet, with hot crimson gushing from his bullet wounds. Althea was shattered, she was helplessly grasping her father's body against hers as their bodyguards took the men down and her father's brother ran towards them. Althea has already melted in weak pleas and tears; her pure dress was already soiled but she didn't care, she died for the second time and her heart was left weakly beating.

"Althea..." Her dad whispered as he caressed her cheek they're already inside the ambulance

"Dad, please hold onto me please, don't – don't" Althea rushed as she clutched his dad's hand against her face

"Shhh. It's okay Althea, I'll be okay. You take care of yourself. You don't have to do anything for me anymore. You've done enough."

"Dad, you rest... please save your energy, we're almost there, dad don't give up on me dad please..." Althea pleaded as she tightly grasped on the hands of her old man.

"I love you Althea, so - - much - - like how - - much I love your mom..." Anthony said feeling life slipping away from him, he's no longer seeing Althea, he's seeing his wife, smiling at him reaching for his hand and he's ready to go.

"I love you too dad..." Althea cried harder, tears and blood and sweat have already washed away her immaculate make up this morning.

"Althea - -" Anthony smiled, his eyes-disappearing smile that Althea has taken from him.

"My Althea - -" Anthony said as he succumb to his final deep slumber, his hand started slipping from Althea' hands.

"Althea! Hey! Come back!" I heard Batchi called out from behind me, but my mind was already clouded as I was reminded of that dreadful day. I ran faster to get to the elevator and closed the door before anyone could enter. I need to be alone, even from Jade. As I pummel the walls of the elevator I was painfully reminded of my dad.

"Happy Birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday my dear Althea! Happy birthday to you!" Dad sang in his fatherly voice as he entered my room, it was my 19th birthday and he surprised me with cake and balloons in my room. With manang Gina and the other maids.

"Dad! Wow! Thank you!" I beamed even though I was rudely awakened, it's my birthday and he sang for me, what's not to be happy about right?

"I have a gift for you." he proudly said as he dangle a Volkswagen car key in front of me

"I got you a beetle!" he added

"Oh dad! Thank you very much! You shouldn't have to."

"Oh of course I should, I want you to drive again, your mommy Agnes told me that you love driving." He concerned because after mom's accident I never drove again.

"For the nth time, Thanks Dad, you're the best!" I said

"You are dearly welcome my Althea. Now make a wish and blow your candles, and then let's have your car a test drive." He said as he present the round mango cake in front of me. I blew the candles and they clapped their hands. Dad gave me a hug.

"Give me the keys." I ordered as I reached the parking lot where my bodyguards are waiting.

"But ma'am - -"

"Give me the keys." I coldly said and they scramble to give me the car keys.

I then entered the driver seat, rev the engine and stepped on the gas pedal.
