Aubrey walked through the streets of her neighborhood and greeted her neighbors, well, at least those who were not drunk. Then, she rushed to get home to her son, and the grocery bags that she was carrying did not make things any easier for her. Even though her pay was not so good, she still bought a few things for her son and herself.

She reached the foot of her door, inserted the key, and unlocked it. Upon entering, CJ jumped out of nowhere, excited as he welcomed his mother home. Aubrey loved seeing her son so excited and, most importantly, that he was healthy.

"Mommy, I miss you so much!" CJ said excitedly as he wrapped his hands around her neck, almost choking Aubrey. However, as soon as he released his grip on Aubrey, she smiled and looked her son in the eyes. CJ was her pride and joy; she always loved him more than anyone else.

"Hey, my son, could you please help mommy put these things in the kitchen and place some in the fridge?" She asked CJ.

"Okay, Mommy" Without waiting for more instructions, CJ rushed towards the KitchenKitchen with the bags of groceries in his hands. Aubrey walked around the house and removed her clothes, but as soon as she returned to the living room, her son CJ was there with plenty of questions to ask of her.

"Mommy, you back early; why is that?" CJ asked her, his squeaky voice breaking through the house's silence.

"It's just that in mommy's new job, they let me leave on time, my boy. Do you know what I brought you?" Aubrey asked her son, but she was more pleased that a broad smile appeared on her son's face and loved seeing him happy.

When last did I have the money to buy him anything? I always had to think about the bills that needed paying, and the money stretched further than it should have gone. In the end, there was nothing left for my little boy. Aubrey thought to herself. She was never one to pat herself on the back, but today, she had to admit that she made sure she got CJ something.

Aubrey knew that she could have provided more for her son. CJ deserved a happy home with a father and mother, but here he was, with one parent who could barely keep things together. She reached into her bag and retrieved a toy car from within it; the look on his face brightened.

"A car, thank you, Mommy." CJ thanked his mother and took the car from her.

Immediately, her son forgot all about her and played with his new car. Aubrey took this as an opportunity to go into the KitchenKitchen and cook the food she had just brought. As I continued cooking, there was a knock on her door, and she paused; it indeed had to be her neighbor's asking for one thing or the other.

Who could that be? I am not expecting anyone, and I hardly have anyone to visit me. So Aubrey thought to herself as she washed her hands and rushed to get the door.

"Wait, I'm coming!" She called out, hoping the impatient visitor would stop knocking on the door. But instead, Aubrey got to the door and unlocked it, and as soon as she saw who it was, her heart dropped to the pit of her stomach.

The person she was looking at was one she wished was far from her; his silver-grey eyes burned into her, and Aubrey wished she could slap the smile off his face. Aubrey knew that she was angry, but now that it came to it, she realized that she was furious, and all she wanted was to reach out and strangle him.

Connor stood at Aubrey's door and stared right into her eyes, and all he could do was smile at her; happiness was an understatement because looking at Aubrey felt like he had worn the lottery. However, his smile soon faded as Aubrey stood at the door and stared at him while shock registered all over her face. Doubt filled his mind as he thought he might have called her first, but then he knew she would never have agreed to meet with him.

Now that he looked at Aubrey, Connor could not help but stare at her. This older version of Aubrey looked more mature, but her beauty had increased. Her breasts were more prominent, her hips more expansive, and even as he stood at the door, Connor could not help but be turned on by her.

He tried to say something, but the beauty of her brown eyes captured him, or rather, it captured the words that he was about to tell her. Even after eight years, Aubrey still had the same effect on him— the ability to weaken him to the knees.

"Hello, Aubrey," Connor managed to greet her, he smiled at her, but it seemed as though his smile only made matters worse because Aubrey looked as though she was ready to murder him right there and then.

Connor tried to focus on anything other than Aubrey's body as he took in every inch of her, but she caught his eyes, which embarrassed him. Connor felt like a high school boy on his first date.

"What the hell are you doing here, Connor?" Aubrey asked Connor, and not once did she hide her distaste for him. However hurt Connor was, he knew that he could not blame Aubrey for the way she felt about him, and Connor knew that he had a lot of mending to do.

"I was at least hoping for a hello, welcome it's nice to see you" Connor tried cracking a joke, but Aubrey not smiling was a clear indicator that it was best that he stopped; she still held grudges against him.

"Well, in that case, Connor, you're not welcome here. Who gave you my address in the first place?" Aubrey asked Connor.
