Amanda pulled Connor towards an empty room and shut the door behind her. A seductive smile escaped from her lips, making her look hungry, and this only drove Connor into deeper confusion.

"I thought you called me here to discuss business and not this." Connor informed Amanda, but it seemed as though she did not get the message that he was trying to convey.

"Come on, Connor. Do not play games with me because you and I both know that you have wanted me for a long time, and now it's time to get your reward," Amanda told Connor with a slick smile on her face.

Amanda began making her way slowly and seductively towards Connor. By the time she had gotten to him, she had tried placing her hands on his manhood, but he stopped her before she could get any further.

"You are right; I have always wanted you, but not anymore." Connor informed her, but it seemed as though Amanda did not get the message that Connor was trying to convey.

"Oh, please, Connor. Don't tell me that you've suddenly turned into an ordained minister and you no longer crave for my body." Amanda teased him, and Connor was not impressed with her antics.

"I am not that holy, and please don't flatter me, Amanda," Connor told her sarcastically, returning to her with the same wicked smile. He slowly let go of her hand, and Connor began walking towards the other exit.

"Wait!" Amanda called out to her; Connor halted, rolled his eyes, and turned around to face her. Connor was surprised to see that Amanda did not look disappointed, but she was smiling at him.

"You know she's lucky to have you; she might not see it, but she is one lucky woman," Amanda told him, but this only confused Connor more.

"I'm not following what you are saying, Amanda."

"Aubrey. She does not see it, but you are a good man, and it is a pity that there aren't many of you left in the world," Amanda told him. Although she was smiling, Connor could sense that she was hurt as she said those words to him.

He felt pity for Amanda; the business magazines described her as a successful businesswoman who was said to have it all and was taking the world by storm, when in actual fact, she was lonely.

"I am not as perfect as you think I am; I have flaws."

"We all do, Connor, but I still maintain that you are one of a kind," Amanda interrupted him.

"Thank you for the compliment, and I know that you will find the man of your dreams," Connor encouraged Amanda.

Amanda slumped onto a wooden oak chair and placed one leg on top of the other. She sighed, looking bored at what he was saying to her.

"I have looked everywhere; the only place that I have not looked at is Pluto and all those other damn planets," Amanda joked.

"Well, good luck finding the guy." Connor wished her all the best, and he left the room feeling sad for Amanda; he had never seen her at her weakest. Connor could not fault Amanda; being a top female in the business required one to be tough and hard as a rock. Often, people never got to know the real Amanda, the one that he often saw at her weakest.

Connor arrived at the main hall, where the party was in full swing. Everyone was dancing and even drinking champagne. He scanned the room, and there was no sign of Aubrey anywhere. Connor stepped outside the venue and searched everywhere until he found her in the garden, sitting next to the fountain all by herself.
