Arisa pov:
I awoke to a pounding headache. It took me several minutes to just peel my eyes open, groaning at the immense soreness of my body and haziness of my mind – I felt like I weighed more than a ton.
When I could finally open my eyes, a white ceiling came into view. It took a few minutes for my eyes to focus though I could make out the details of the ceiling lamp. Raising my right hand, I brought it to my head as I groaned again. Man, why did I feel like crap?
When I tried to sit up, I gasped, my eyes going wide at the jolt of pain that went through my entire body. I fell back onto the bed I was lying on, my eyes tightly shut while tasting bile in my mouth. I remained still until the pain subsided and I was left breathing heavily. Sweat covered my forehead and my body trembled.
This time, I turned to my side when I tried to sit up, so I wouldn't put too much pressure on my right side that was screaming in agony. Finally seating while holding my side as I tried to get a good amount of oxygen into my lungs, I glanced around the room noticing the single bed I was sleeping in, a wardrobe and a small dresser. It was definitely not my house – so, where was I?
Everything that happened before I passed out flashed through my mind – Krystal, alchemy, human transmutation, Chimera, our fight, and finally seeing someone in blue clothes before I lost consciousness. What had happened to me? Where was I? Did the people who had helped me know of my identity or thought of me as a stranger? If they knew I was Angel, what would happen?
Glancing down at myself made me notice that I was not in my black attire anymore. I didn't know what had been done with my clothes but I surely couldn't see it in the room I was in. I wore a loose one piece dress now with multiple bandages wrapped around my body underneath. Besides the two major wounds, I had several aching bruises on my body. My hair was untied and felt really uncomfortable.
On the low height table besides the bed were my cell phone, my ear piece, my glasses, my phone charger and even the four, small, spare tracking devices I had taken with me when I went to Krystal's mansion. They were still intact and looked untampered with. Hopefully, that's how they really were.
Tensing, I looked at the door of the room when I heard the click of the handle. Being lost in thought had made me forget that I should have taken this chance to leave whatever place this was and find my way back to my home – I couldn't risk getting caught as Angel because surely I wouldn't be allowed to leave here alive. Clutching the blanket tightly in my fists, I waited for the worst. I braced myself to see an enemy but was rather surprised when the door opened slowly to reveal a little girl with sandy brown hair in two ponytails and glistening green eyes. She was standing on her toes to reach the handle of the door.
When our eyes met, she stared a moment before grinning widely and scuttling away. In the distance, I heard her say, "Papa! The pretty onee-chan is awake!"
She returned in a bit with a man with black hair, glasses, and slightly lighter green eyes than the little girl. He had a light beard too. While he took a seat on the chair next to the bed, the little girl climbed onto the bed with a lot of huffing and puffing effort. When she was seated in front of me, she gave me a look of awe.
I regarded her stare with an awkward smile, unsure of how else to react. Then I glanced at the man warily and started, "Um..."
"Welcome back to the living, miss! It's a miracle that you pulled through those wounds," the man said with a light laugh at my awkwardness.
"Um, who are you? And where am I?" I asked. I knew that I was being rude but figuring out the situation was more important to me now than courtesy. These two didn't appear dangerous but I couldn't be sure of that just yet.
