Arisa pov:

A long sigh escaped my lips. Sitting on the couch and staring at the ceiling bored out of my brains was tiring...mentally rather than physically. Sure, I was healing and I couldn't walk around much but sitting in one place with nothing to do or think about was making me restless. It's not that I didn't have anything to think about – I did, especially about Krystal and everything that had happened after meeting him – but I was annoyed and not in the mood for that at the moment.

The doctor who had come to check up on me had told me that I was doing a lot better than the before – sleeping for three days had really helped my body heal. He had instructed me to continue taking painkillers for a few more days along with some antibiotics to help my body heal faster. After he had left, the drowsiness of the painkillers had kicked in, putting me to sleep in the most uncomfortable position on the couch. I had woken up to a sore neck along with an aching body once again. But my mood was bettered and warmed when I noticed that I had been covered with a blanket and Elicia was cuddled up under the blanket with me. Oddly enough, it was nice to have someone by my side, at such proximity. This was the first time I had been around someone for this long, and been cared for like I was...family. It was strange yet heartwarming.

When I had woken, Gracia san had got me a delicious food to rejuvenate my bummed out mood.

Having slept for a good three hours before lunch, I was sort of energetic after. So, Gracia san and I spent some time talking about causal stuff like likes, dislikes, hobbies, and so on. I expressed hesitation to speak of some things and I was grateful that Gracia san didn't force me.

I felt mildly guilty for going along with the amnesia story that I didn't remember how I had got injured, where I was from and almost nothing much of my secretive life I lived before running away and getting lost and losing all my belongings and money at the train station when I arrived in this city. Perhaps it was out of sympathy because of my story that she offered for me stay here for as long as I wished.

From what I had gathered, I was in a city called Central and was where the main Commanding Office of the Military was stationed. Lt. Col. Hughes, or rather, Hughes san as Gracia san had asked me to address him, was stationed here as an officer in the investigation department. There was still much I had to figure out about this place, much more than what Gracia san had briefed me, but I decided that I didn't need to rush with it. Surely I was going to be here a while so I could worry about that after I had healed enough.

Waiting for the brigadier general was mildly nerve-wrecking. I was certain that meeting with him would be more of an interrogation, since the way I was hurt and carrying around gadgets was sure to make him want details. But I was pretty good at lying – I know it wasn't something that anyone would consider as a good thing and I really shouldn't be proud of it but it was the only way to protect myself. It had become second nature to me, especially ever since I became Angel.

A knock on the door had me return to the present and sit up straight on the couch. Gracia san opened the door to reveal three military men along with Hughes san. The man in the center who stepped inside first had me feeling uneasy – he was tall, towering over all those in the room with a height much more than an average person. He was bald, had a thick, dark moustache, and his eyes were small yet sharp with creases forming on his forehead and next to his eyes thanks to his scrutinizing expression. He gave off an aura of authority and I couldn't stop from clenching my jaw as I watched him.

The two other people were of a lower rank than this guy. While one had brown hair and brown eyes, the other had black hair and golden eyes. All four of them, including Hughes san, wore blue military outfits that I found to be somewhat strange. I remembered military attire to be of brown or black, but this was not one I remembered seeing even in pictures.
