Arisa pov:

My eyes scanned the people bustling on the platform instead of meeting eyes with Raiden who stood outside the train on the platform beside my seat window as I waited for the train to depart to Dublith. He had come to speak to me this morning as I was leaving the inn where I had stayed during the night. He had questioned me about what I had seen in the mansion to which I had only given him a vague answer.

"Arisa, would you please say something? What really happened in the mansion last night?" he pressed again.

"I already told you that nothing happened. Whatever those mercenaries were guarding was gone, the mansion was empty. There was just one room where they had some papers and stuff that I couldn't understand."

My explanation wasn't convincing in the least. In fact, the hint of desperation in my tone made things even more suspicious than necessary. But I couldn't tell him that the homunculi were manipulating the military and using me to help them with their goal. I couldn't tell him that they killed the real Mr. Claudius and had been the reason for the mansion being cleared out in the middle of the night – the mansion had been abandoned and not even a single mercenary had been spotted since the morning. Telling Raiden anything of what had panned yesterday would lead me into deep trouble not just with this city but with the military as well.

"Arisa, this is my city. I need to know what you saw in there!" he demanded.

"If you're so concerned about your people, why don't you summon some courage and use that brain of yours to get in yourself and investigate?! Some matters are secret! I have to report to the military and let them take action! I can't go telling civilians details like this! If you're so hell bent on figuring out what I saw, why don't you stop being such a coward and go find out yourself?!" I snapped, my voice an octave higher than what I wanted it to be. It had gained us some curious onlookers and I averted my eyes feeling both embarrassed and angry at myself for yelling at Raiden when he had actually done nothing wrong.

But I was incredibly frustrated and I couldn't control myself.

"Whatever the case, it's your fault for running away yesterday when I got you into the mansion," I added in a mutter.

Raiden was a surprised at the way I had yelled at him, so much so that he couldn't speak. I was glad that the final call for the train's departure rang and the train began to move. Raiden kept in pace with the train until it left the station, trying to get me to talk in vain. Sighing in relief when the train was out of the station, as I was spared from further questioning from Raiden, I slumped in my seat while gazing at the passing landscape.

"Nothing seems to be going right," I mumbled to myself and closed my eyes.

I couldn't help but ponder on what I was doing. I worked for the military, for the good of the people, but was also following orders of the homunculi and doing the exact opposite of good for the people. It was perhaps apt to think that I should just tell the military about what was going on and then let them handle the homunculi.

However, it wasn't possible because of Envy. He was a shape shifter. What if he hurt Hughes san, Gracia san or Elicia, or anyone else out of anger while pretending to be someone they knew? Or even worse, what if an innocent person was framed for doing something he didn't or killed? How was I going to stop such an incident when I was the only one who could notice if someone was a homunculus or not?

And there was the fact that Envy had caught my interest in more ways than one. The way he carried himself and his bloodlust was understandable because he was a homunculus but the extent to which he hated humans didn't make sense to me. The malice he had towards Edward and Alphonse in particular was strange and unexpected, as if there was something more to it than what was visible. Wraths words of Envy's jealousy of humans because he didn't have friends or family or anyone close enough was intriguing too.
