"We're in the hospital. Your father had a heart attack. Pick us up?" sabi ni Mommy.
"Ha? Oo naman ma. Papunta na 'ko dyan."
Dali-dali naming pinuntahan nina Christine at Andre ang hospital kung saan dinala si Dad.
"Mom?" yakap ko kay mommy pagkakita sa kanya sa corridor sa labas ng isang pinto.
"He's inside. Okay na naman daw sya sabi ng Doctor," sabi ni Mommy.
Pumasok kami. Dad's reading a magazine.
"Dad, what happened?" tanong ko kissing him.
"Wala. I just got excited," sabi ni Dad. "Oh hi Christine, Andre. Naabala pa ata kayo?"
"Hindi po," sabi nila kay Dad. Kinumusta nila sya.
"Ano bang nangyari?" tanong ko.
"Matanda na 'ko eh," sabi lang ni Dad.
"He got excited about seeing your aunts and uncles. Ayan," sabi ni Mommy.
Kinumusta nila mommy ang preparations ng kasal nina Andre at Christine. Masaya naman silang nagbahagi.
"Chloe anak can we talk to you?" tanong ni mommy sa'kin.
"Sige po mauna na kami," paalam ni Christine.
"Nice meeting you po," sabi ni Andre.
Nagpasalamat kami sa kanila.
"Yes mom?" tanong ko.
"Your Dad needs to have a stress-free life from now on," simula ni Mommy. I looked at Dad na hindi umiimik. "Hindi nya na kaya ang trabaho namin don. And I can't do it as well. I need to be with Daddy always."
I looked at them waiting for what they want to say.
"We don't want to shock you but this has surfaced now. Plano ito for the next years to come pa but your Dad needs to have a more relaxed life now," patuloy ni Mommy. "We don't want to leave it too late."
"Okay, yes I agree," sabi ko.
"Can you move to LA anak to take care of our restaurants there?" tanong ni Mommy.
Yes. "Yes," sagot ko agad, walang pag-iimbot, walang hesitations. "No worries."
"You would have to learn," sabi ni Dad agad. He looked surprised and pleased but trying to be a Dad.
"Of course," sabi ko nodding.
"We'll move back here. Mas mura ang cost of living dito. We'll just stay at your home dahil we will still have our family home rented. Okay lang?" tanong pa ni mommy.
"Mom, it's your house too. You bought that for me," sabi ko smiling.
"You sure you're okay with this? Bakit walang kicking and screaming?" tanong ni Dad.
"I told you I've changed. Matanda na 'ko. And I like working, I like the Food industry. Maybe we can have one of our food trucks franchised there," sabi ko.
"Pa'no si Chris anak?" concerned na tanong ni Daddy.
Maybe he'd be upset if I tell him we're over. Maybe he'd think I was just escaping heartache kaya gusto kong umalis ng bansa. "He'd understand. We've only been dating for less than half a year. We'd move on."
"Don't ruin your relationship with him. Or at least be friends still," sabi ni Dad.
"Am a big girl Dad. I know," sabi ko.
