CHAPTER 10- ATTACKED
Hannah's Pov
Why does this place have to get dark so quick, it seemed to be light for about 5 hour max and then all of a sudden it's as if someone just decided to switch the lights off. The sun seemsto never be up which means we have to set up camp again because we have no light source, so we can't keep moving, it's just too dangerous.
It made me give up some hope; I mean if we have to keep stopping all the time are we ever going to get out of there? Maybe I'm meant to stay here for some reason? No that's impossible the only place I'm meant to be is with family at home, safe in our lovely little house.
"Hannah, are you ok?" Ben asked me which pulled me out of my thoughts. But that's when I suddenly realised I was crying.
"Yeah I'm ok I was just thinking about my family," I told him trying to stop the tears.
"Aww Hannah, come here," he pulled me into a comforting hug. Ben just held me until I stopped crying, which was actually quite comforting, he is the best friend anyone can have.
"Thanks Ben I really needed that," I said while letting him go.
"That's ok Hannah, you know I'm here for you if you need anything right?" he asked me.
"Ben you're a great friend," I told him truthfully.
"Good because I think of you as a friend too," he told me.
"Yep you're the best," I told him with a big smile on my face, me smiled back at me.
"I guess we should help Sean set the camp up," Ben suggested.
"Yeah I guess," I replied back but just the name of Sean makes me think back to what he said about me earlier. I really needed to keep my distance from him. I saw they haven't made the fire yet and that just gave me a brilliant idea.
"Hi guy," I greeted Jason, Sarah and Sean.
"Hi Hannah," they all replied back.
"I see you haven't made the fire yet so I was wandering if I could go and collect some wood today," hopeful I would get I good answer back.
"Yeah sure, why not, you haven't done it yet and I don't fancy doing it today," Jason told me. But I waited for what Sean was about to say.
He sighed, "Fine you can do it today Hannah but you have to take someone with you."
"I'll go with her," Sarah shouted a bit loud. I guess she really does like me now.
"Aright that sounds good but just be careful, we have no idea what might be in these woods," Ben told us.
"Yeah we will," Sarah and I said at the same time, which was kind of funny.
"Ok we'll see you in a bit," I told them.
"Bye," they all said, Sarah and I started to head for the trees.
"I can't believe they actually let us go," I told her shocked.
"Yeah I know what you mean, I thought I might have had to persuade them a bit," Sarah said smiling.
"And how would you have done that?" I questioned her.
"Oh Hannah, dear I have my ways," she told me with a cheeky smile, I just started laughing, she joined me too.
"I would have loved to have seen that," I told her.
"Yeah I bet they would have too," she told me which make me laugh even louder.
"great-now-I-can't-stop-laughing," I said trying to catch my breath.
Eventually when I stopped laughing, Sarah and I started to collect the wood. There weren't much of it on the ground where we were so we decided to go in a bit deeper but not too much because we didn't want to get lost. Finally we started to see some more wood on the ground and started to pick it up. Suddenly I heard a really loud crunch.
"Sarah did you hear that," I asked her.
"No, I didn't hear anything," she told me.
"It was probably just my imagination," I hope it was, I thought to myself.
But then I heard it again, ok this is starting to creep me out. What the hell is it? And I know for a fact that is isn't my feet crunching on the sticks or Sarah because this sound was coming for behind me; Sarah was in front of me.
"Sarah I think somethings behind me," I whispered to her.
"What Hannah-," she screamed when she looked at me, I turned around. I could not believe my eyes, there was a big black wolf in front of me and it was close enough for me to touch. But this wolf did not look friendly at all and just looking at it made me want to scream. But I couldn't scream because I had to make sure Sarah was going to get out of here safe. There was no chance for me to be saved because it was too close to me but Sarah was far enough away to make a run for it.
"Sarah be quiet and listen to me," I tried to sound calm and she was quiet but looked really scared.
"Ok," she whispered.
"Right I want you to run back to camp where the guys are and don't stop running even if I'm not behind you," I told her.
"But I'm not leaving you here by yourself, Hannah that wolf can kill you," she told me crying.
"I know Sarah but I am too close to it to run it's just going to catch me anyway but you can run and you will make it," I told her hoping she will listen to me.
"But-,"
"No buts Sarah you are going to run, get out of here, don't come looking for me, I want you and the guys to go find the ring and get out of this place," I was crying as well now, I through her the golden compass, she picked it up off the ground.
"I can't Hannah," she told me crying even more.
"Yes you can Sarah please do this for me," I told her still crying.
"You really are a great friend," she smiled sadly at me.
"I know and I love you too now RUN," I screamed at her as the wolf started to move closer to me again.
I could see Sarah running in the distance. I knew that I wasn't going to make it out of here alive, I'll never get to see my family again; I miss them so much. But I asept this death, knowing that Sarah is going to be OK. The rest of them can still get out and save them self's, but it's too late for me, the wolf pounced, there was just black, this was the end of Hannah Jenson's life.
