Bonjour! I hope you enjoy....

The whole school was excited for that days soccer match, so much so that in most of our lessons we weren't given anything difficult to do and the teachers let us openly discuss the game; soccer was a big deal at our school.

Girls had already started painting members of the soccer teams shirt numbers on them. The number 13 which was Lukes shirt number seemed to be the most common but I also noticed quite a few girls had 21, Rickys shirt number painted on them. This annoyed me for no apparent reason.

"Can I have your autograph guys?" I teased at lunch. We'd decided to sit outside to eat today instead of the canteen.

"Yeah you might as well get them now before we're famous" Justin grinned. He grabbed a felt tip pen out his bag and signed my arm

Obviously Dan and Ricky decided they had to sign my arms too

"Cheers boys, I'll just stick my arms on ebay when you're famous" I giggled

Dan started writing an assortment of things on Fayes arm, including "Dan's the man"

"What a cheeseball" I laughed, turning to Ricky who was also laughing

I could tell that despite his laughter he seemed really nervous - I could see it in his eyes

"You'll be great today" I said softly, reaching across and giving his hand a quick squeeze

Faye and I had free periods at the end of the day so we used that time productively to get ourselves all jazzed up for the game. Being the amazingly supportive girls we are we always made sure we had the boys numbers painted on us. It was a hot day so we'd tied our shirts up at the back and painted their shirt numbers on our stomachs in black. I obviously had 21 and Faye had 9 for Dan, Justins number was 11 so to make him not feel left out we'd painted a 1 on each of our backs so together we were 11.

"Was Ricky ok earlier?" Faye asked as she helped me do army stripes on my face - yes we go a bit OTT with this- "he looked a bit peaky at lunch"

Peaky wasn't the word, he hadn't even eaten anything. If he was this nervous now what would he be like when (not if) they got to the final

"Yeah he was just nervous" I answered, looking in my compact mirror at Fayes handiwork and laughing, "The boys are so gonna be embarassed to see us looking like this"

"They'll be proud we're cheering them on" Faye grinned, while drawing on some stripes of her own

I sat down and added some glitter to a poster that we'd made with "Go Harlington Hornets!" written on it in big letters. The Harlington Hornets was the teams nickname seeing as our school was called Harlington High and our schools mascot was for some reason a hornet.

"I think Ricky tried to kiss me yesterday"I blurted out. I'd decided to never mention the almost kiss so I had no idea why I'd suddenly just come out with it.

The line Faye was drawing ended up extremely wonky as she jumped down next to me

"He did what?" she demanded, looking like she was about to explode with excitement

I explained what had happened on the field a few days before when she'd had her little tantrum cos she sucked at soccer. I made her swear not to repeat it to anyone.

"And what did you do?" she asked eagerly, hanging off my every word

"I turned away" I admitted

Faye sucked in a deep breath and then gave me the mother of all looks, the kind your mum used to give you when you were naughty while you were out and she let you know with just her eyes that you were in BIG trouble when you got home.
