The next day I karate chopped Faye for giving Luke my BB pin. Ok I didn't, but I wished I could of. Gahhh, if only I'd taken karate lessons when my brother had.
"Emily he practically begged me" Faye sighed as she painted the bowl of fruit the art teacher had put in front of us
She saw my raised eyebrows and knew I wasn't buying it
"Ok he only asked once" she admitted, "But any girl would love Luke Wilden to have their number, or bb pin, or whatever"
"Well just for the record I wish you hadn't given him it" I said, slapping paint on my paper , "Next you'll be telling me others have it"
Faye remained silent
"Faye!" I exclaimed
"All I'll say is a few people have asked for your number and maybe I gave them it. I was selective though, you'll be happy to know I gave Harry Herbert the nosepicker his marching orders when he asked"
"Oh well that makes everything ok" I said sarcastically, slapping even more paint on my paper.
My painting didn't really look like a bowl of fruit, it looked like a bowl of fruit that had been attacked by several people with baseball bats.
"It was all in the name of love" Faye said giving me a sheepish smile
"Pffft well in the name of love for your friend Emily please don't give my number to anybody else" I smiled slightly, even when it's her I'm with annoyed Faye has a way of cheering me up.
After class Faye rushed off to find Dan. i told her I'd meet them in the canteen after I'd put some stuff in my locker. As I emptied my bag of the contents of this mornings lessons I sensed somebody stood behind me and turned to see who it was.
It was Luke.
"Have you reconsidered my offer?" he asked, pressing his arm on the locker next to mine, making me sort of stuck in between his arm and the open door of my locker.
"My answer hasn't changed" I replied in what I hoped was a neutral tone. I sure hoped he couldn't sense my nervousness about being this close to him (close enough to smell his aftershave properly - which smelt very nice by the way).
"Are you sure?" he questioned, leaning even closer
I could feel his breath on my face as our faces were now only inches apart, his blue eyes stared into mine. It took me a while to snap out of the daze he put me in.
"Yeah I'm pretty sure" I said quickly, pushing gently on his (toned!) chest so I could move and closing my locker speedily
I hurried down the hall and realised today must be the worst day ever, Ricky was stood waiting for me glaring at Luke. Geeez is a little luck to much to ask for?
"What did he want?" Ricky asked when I reached him, his teeth were gritted
I glanced back at Luke who was still leaning against the locker and did a little wave at us. This seemed to make Ricky even more annoyed.
I was tempted to lie and say he'd been asking to borrow my notes or something but you don't tend to get up in somebodys face when asking for them and I'm pretty sure Ricky had seen everything
"He wants to go on a date" I blurted out
I could see Ricky was ready to launch into a rant.
"But I said no" I added quickly before he could say anything, "So could we please not talk about it any more"
I could tell he wanted to rant away but I just did not want to hear it. I'd done what he had asked and I'd turned Luke down so I didn't want to spend my lunch hour being moaned at about it.

After school I was sat at my desk doing algebra homework when my phone rang; I answered the phone without even looking at who was ringing, expecting it to be Faye as she'd said she would ring me
"Yo whassup homie!?" I said in the funny way we always answered the phone to each other
"Emily?" a boys voice asked.
Oh damn, it wasnt Faye.
"Speaking..." I replied slowly
The person laughed, obviously amused by my initial greeting. How embarassing.
"Hey it's Reece Timbers from school"
"Oh... um, hey Reece"
I was confused as to why Reece would even be ringing me.
"Are you busy tonight?" Reece asked, "Because if not I'd like to take you to see a movie"
What. The. Hell.
I could of sworn somebody was going to pop out with a load of cameras and tell me that this last week or so had all been a practical joke for a TV show. How could I go from being asked out on dates occasionally to having lots of people wanting to date me. Reece was one of the most popular boys at school, he was one of Lukes best friends.
"I'm really busy with algebra homework" I replied. It wasn't a lie I was busy with it, just it wasn't due till next week so it wasn't urgent. He didn't need to know that though.
"I'm in your Maths class, that doesn't need to be done till next week". I could tell Reece was smirking
DOH!
"Erm..." I stalled, trying to think of a plausible excuse
"Emily I know all about your deal with Faye so you might as well just say yes" laughed Reece
I supposed it wouldn't hurt to just go and watch a movie together
"If we can go and see The Hangover 2 then yes I will come" I bargained. I was dying to see that film.
"Deal!" replied Reece enthusiastically
I told Reece my address and he told me to be ready in an hour. I then rang Faye and told her about the embarassing way I'd answered the phone (she found it hilarious!) and also about the fact I was going to the cinema with Reece. She sqealed excitedly as I'd expected and then told me to get myself off the phone and make myself look beautiful. I had to promise to ring her as soon as I got home that night
