The next day I did the best I could to hide my bust lip

I'd put some pink lipgloss on but you could still see it

I didn't care though, I'd woken up ridiculously happy and nothing could dampen my spirits; I'd sung "Walking On Sunshine" Glee style in the shower at the top of my voice. My mum grinned at me when I waved goodbye on my way out, she was obviously glad I was no longer sulking in my room like a hermit.

I smiled when I saw Rhea was sat in the back of Rickys car, things were definately already returning to normal

"Morning" I greeted them both as I got in

"Your lip looks sore" I commented to Ricky as he drove off

His lip looked similar to mine and he had faint bruising along his cheekbone which must of only shown up overnight. I bit my lip (ouch - I really needed to stop doing that while it was cut) as I thought about how sexy Ricky looked; I hadn't realised I liked the rough and tumble type.

I mentally slapped myself for thinking it.

Things were returning to normal so no way did I want to jeopardise it.

"Probably as sore as yours" Ricky replied, giving me a small smile

Just like the day before all eyes were on us when we arrived at school; it didn't make me feel as self conscious as it had the day before. I noticed a lot of girls were staring lustfully at Ricky.

It seemed I wasn't the only one who found his cuts and bruises appealing.

Us girls can be strange sometimes.

"Oh look it's the karate kids" Justin called out playfully as we got to our bench, making me roll my eyes. I couldn't help but laugh though.

"Shut up before we beat you up" I teased, giving him a soft punch on his arm

"Sorry Superman" Justin said, sticking his tongue out at me

I frowned

"Superman?"

"Yeah, you flew at Melanie like Superman" Justin told me in a "duhhhhh" tone as if I should of automatically been able to guess why he called me it

"But I'm a girl..."

"Thats a matter of opinion" Justin replied cheekily

I punched him in his arm again, only this time it wasn't a soft punch

My day got better when I found out Melanie was off school

It wasn't because of me incase you're thinking "wow what a bully", Shanice Moore (as "best friends" do) had made it public knowledge that Melanie wasn't going to come to school until all signs that she'd had a fight had vanished. She didn't want to be seen as anything but perfect.

I don't know whether she thought that undercover model scouts were hiding around the school.

Mrs Kerr spent about 15 minutes of her lesson talking about why she thought fighting was wrong and how only "weak minded idiots" fight. Normally I'd of agreed with her but you know, if your friends about to be bludgeoned with a stiletto you have to take action.
