Ingrid felt a giant wave of guilt run through her.
"Will for the Chosen One," the council had told her, the bargain had been done. Vlad was dust, and she had Will.
Her plan had worked, yet she wised that it hadnt.
And now with the Vampire High Council completely destroyed, would the vampire community pick another? Or would the world become a war zone?
One thing she knew for sure was that her family would he hunted, and she didn't know what to do about it.
It was all her fault.
Will held her tight. He felt sad for Ingrid, but Vlad was dust. They couldn't change that, Will knew that Vlad had sacrificed himself so they could unlive.
So they had to make the best of their lives and face the situation in the best way possible.
"We will get through this, I promise," he said as she cried in his shoulder, "Vlad gave himself so you could live. Don't cry, that's not what he wanted."
Ingrid shook her head, Vlad didn't want her to cry? When had she ever listened to her brother? Never. She continued crying.
The Count pulled out a leather pouch from his cape and scooped Vlad's dust into it. He had overheard Will and The Count knew that he was right. But he also knew that it was his job as father to bring back Vlad, that's what he had asked for after all.
But Garside Grange was no longer safe for his new family. He dreaded the thought of leaving Ms McAuly, but it would also be safer for her if they left.
The mansion would do for a little while, no one would discover that the council was dust until they stopped attending meetings. Perhaps there was still a chance to learn about this undusting technique.
That would have to be their first job, not mourning.
They didn't need to mourn, because they would bring him back.
After all this thinking, the Count didn't disturb his crying daughter, he began searching the mansion for anything that would help, anything.
Ingrid wiped away her last few tears and smiled at Will, "I know what dad's doing, he's going to try and bring back Vlad. But how will he-"
Will put his finger on her mouth, "He's a smart man, he'll succeed. I'm sure of it. So there's no need-"
Ingrid cut him off this time, "To mourn, I know."
She was feeling better now and that last sentence made Will much happier now that she wasn't so sad.
They kissed tenderly on the lips and went off to help the Count with his search.
