A deep, loud voice engulfed the whole room, "You cannot escape your destiny, Chosen One."
----------
The past events still made Vlad shiver.
Although they hadn't heard anything from the mysterious voice since that dinner around the table, everyone seemed slightly edgy.
Still, they did their best to get over that feeling for the day, it was Vlad's eighteenth birthday after all.
Erin crept out of her coffin and picked up the bundle of balloons she'd hidden below it. She held them, being careful not to make a sound, and tied them to the door handle. She then quietly sped out of the room and joined the others for party preparations.
Vlad had no idea what was happening downstairs, he was still fast asleep.
"Here boy!" The Count threw a bundle of red and black streamers at Wolfie. It was Wolfie's job to 'scatter' them around the place. He did this perfectly, throwing them all around the room in an odd manner.
Erin took on the job of cooking and refreshments as The Count pulled together a last minute guest list. This time he'd make sure no assassins came to the party.
-------
Vlad run along the riverside of the place he knew too well. His dreamworld.
The river surrounded Garside Grange like a moat, he saw his family standing at the windows calling for help. His only dilemma was that he couldn't get to them no matter how much he wanted to. Vampires cannot cross running water.
Vlad heard a deep rumbling in the ground, it escalated to a dangerous sounding voice.
"You must accept your destiny, Chosen One. Take on the role," The voice grumbled from the ground beneath him.
Being in a dream, Vlad didn't find this at all strange, "What do you mean 'accept my destiny'? Who are you?" He mimicked the voice on the destiny bit.
"You know who I am. You know your destiny."
Vlad chuckled, "Let me guess. This whorl Grand High Vampire thing? My coming of age? I'm not leading a war against breathers, deal with it."
The ground shook much more violently, "You have no-"
----------
Robin opened his mate's coffin lid and shook him, "Wake up sleepy head, we just spent hours preparing your party and what do you do? -You don't come on time."
"Huh?" Vlad opened his eyes, Robin had awoken him from the dreamworld. He was grateful, that would give him a bit longer to escape his destiny as he'd always tried to do.
"I said get up!" Robin pulled Vlad up by the collar this time, "The food will get cold."
"Yeah, sorry," Vlad sped out of his coffin and put his cloak on, "Lead the way, Robin."
When they walked down the stairs and into the main hall, all the guests gathered around to congratulate Vlad on his coming of age.
There was one guest, though, who hadn't been invited.
As the guest came up to Vlad, "Happy Birthday, Chosen One," His voice sounded just like the one from the dream.
"You..." Vlad suddenly didn't feel so safe, "What do you want?"
The man smiled, "Come with me, accept your destiny."
Before Vlad was able to react, the man grabbed his wrist and they teleported into darkness. It was pitch black, it took Vlad's eyes a minute to adjust before he realised he was in a cavern underground. Hoards of vampires hung from the ceiling, asleep, next to the many crystals.
As they began to sense Vlad they stirred, and then hundred of red, evil eyes of staring right at him.
One after another they took turns at hissing, "Lead us."
"Lead us."
"Lead us."
