The Tavern was a happening place that night, being as it was Saturday. There was a new and profound energry, Gary and The Band took advantage of capturing this, playing it out for two hours straight before taking a break. The place was a rocking joint.
After getting back onstage from a short washroom break Gary picked up the Acoustic/Electric Double necked guitar "I want to try something comepletely new," addressing The Band after the patrons "if you guys feel like backing me up at any point in this serenade, please do." Gary began playing and one by one The Band members walked on stage taking up their instruments and began to play along.
There was a sudden shift in energy to that of melancholy as Gary began to sing his proposal. The same profound eneregy now was crying out for Andrea's hand. There was no mistaking this. Gary set the guitar in it's stand before walking off stage toward where Andrea was sitting, taking another small crimson colored, velvet box containing a ring for her hand "Will you marry me Andrea?"
Tears were shed "Yes, of course I will." The two exchanged rings. "Jerome!" Andrea called out, perplexed Jerome wandered over to the newly engaged couple, "You are going to have to take over for the rest of the night." Andrea said between sobs "I am taking your guitarist and main man."
After ordering another round of applause Jerome "You get out of here." He directed Gary "I don't want to see you back for another week." Giving his friend a hug "congradulations, brother." Jerome, also teary eyed at this exchange. "I am going to have Sherry take your place in your absence. She's pretty good you know."
"I know," Gary replied giving his friend another warm hug "I don't think you could have found a better replacement for me. See you in a week, bro." Gary and Andrea left the Tavern hand in hand.
Once outside "I... That was quite the proposal, babe," I wasn't sure if I was to kick you in the berries and run or accept" Andrea proclaimed. "On second thought," Andrea gave Gary a kiss "I would like children and I am not getting any younger. By the way I have not been with anyone in a few years and have had my blood tests and was given my 'Fucking papers'. I am in the clear. Judging by the lunar cycle'... Let's bring a baby into the world."
"Ah" Gary hesitated. "we'll try, but I am not sure that instrument is capable of such things" Gary explained to Andrea "I tried many many years ago and my girlfriend at the time would not get pregnant. My guys may not know how to swim. May just be a useless skin flute at this point"
"Yeah, you're funny," Andrea laughed explaining "there are procedures to fix such complications." Giving Gary another kiss "If all else fails,"Andrea stated "there is always the adoption agencies too. You know, where the guy's poking fun and she takes it seriously. You have a way with words my love, I will be so happy to spend the rest of our lives together." The two danced in the moonlight all the way home, the whiskey was left untouched as Gary had a different nightcap now.
