Chapter 16:

Phil's POV:

"Hazel, we're gay," Dan told her, I watched him look at the floor.
I placed my hand on his knee. I looked over to Hazel who was smiling, her smile was so beautiful. I smiled back at her.
I tapped Dan on the shoulder and whispered in his ear,
"I think she's a keeper."
He looked over to Hazel, her eyes shone so bright. He nodded.

Hours had passed and we were still talking about random crap. Dan and I both knew what was going to happen but we didn't tell Hazel. We finished a conversation and she started to smile,
"What?" I asked her smiling back.
"I like you guys," she said, giving us both a grin.
"Well Hazel, we like you too," Dan said giving her a grin back.
"I really need to go, we have to be back by 5pm every day. So," she told us frowning.
"Should I call a taxi?" I asked her. She nodded. Dan went to the phone and called for a taxi,
"It should come soon," he paused for a moment then looked at me. He continued,
"Actually Hazel, I think we'll come with you."
I nodded at him. He approached me and kissed me,
"I love you Lester," he whispered in my ear,
"I love you too Howell."

The taxi arrived and we all got in I sat in the front and Hazel and Dan sat in the back.
Dan glanced at Hazel, I knew he really liked her.
We only made small talk in the taxi because I could tell Dan felt awkward.
When we arrived to the orphanage, Hazel knocked on the door. In no time Ms. Mulligan answered the door.

"Hazel, honey," she exclaimed, then she glanced at us,
"Ah Mr Lester and Mr Howell, how lovely to see you."
"Hey Miss," Hazel said, she turned round to face us them looked back at Ms. Mulligan,
"Would you like to come in gentlemen?" Ms. Mulligan asked.
"Sure," Dan said holding my hand tightly.

We walked into a hallway, it was very quiet for an orphanage.
"Would you like a cup of tea?" she asked us. We both nodded. She led us to a small room and told us to sit down.
Ms. Mulligan told Hazel something as she left the room. Hazel sat down next to us and said,
"Apparently I've got to go now, thank you for an amazing day!"
I gave her the biggest hug ever, then Dan hugged her.
"Bye Hazel, see you again!" Dan said as she left the room making her smile.

When she left the room, Dan looked at me with his heart eyes Howell. I kissed him,
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" he asked, I nodded.
Ms. Mulligan came back in the room with two mugs of tea. She handed them to us and sat in an armchair opposite us.

"So what do you think?" she asked as I sipped my tea. I looked at Dan and Dan looked at me.
"She's amazing, seriously we love her!" I said grabbing Dan's hand.
Ms. Mulligan looked at us with happiness in her eyes.
"I'm so glad you like her, she's never been given a second look. It's because of the incident," she said in a lower, sad tone.
Dan glanced at me with fear in his eyes,
"What incident?" he asked looking concerned. She looked at us,
"Well, with all she's been though in her life, bless her, this wasn't unexpected. A couple years, she um, she was in a horrible state and um she tried to commit suicide."

My heart sank. Dan knew it upset me, so he grabbed my hand tighter. Dan began to speak...

"I believe it's not right to judge people from their past. I love this girl so much, and I promise to look after her whatever happens. She won't go though anything alone again." A single tear rolled down my cheek, I love Dan so much. I'm so excited to start our family.
"That's so touching," she said.

"Ms. Mulligan we would like to adopt Hazel."
