Unfortunately Jay was super busy the last day before he left for the USA shows. However he made sure that his schedule was free for the evening. Jin prepared a feast for all of AOMG and Jay's family, as it was one of the last days before she returned to Seattle. It was an early dinner, because he wanted to spend time with Jin, just the two of them. Jay's mother came to visit him at the office around lunch time. She requested a private meeting with him, when they ate.
Mrs. Park asked, "when Jin is upset she runs away, right?"
"Yeah. She leaves and goes off to dance mostly, sometimes Jin goes off and drinks."
His mother nodded. "She ran away from her family issues in Seattle too." It was more of a statement than a question.
Jay frowned, "Well she came to Seoul to find me. And she's not running away from her family problems, after R16 this weekend she goes back for her dad's trial."
Mrs. Park held her son's hand, waiting until his full attention was on her. She asked, "do you love Jin enough to set her free?"
"What do you mean by that? I've never stopped her from going back or doing what she wants," Jay protested.
"She's going to set you free, before she returns to Seattle. Jin thinks that if she loves you enough, she has to do that for you. You need to decide if you love her just as much."
"Are you telling me to break up with her?" He didn't understand why his mother was talking in riddles. "I've never lost focus on my responsibilities. AOMG is a young company, she has always respected that and knows that comes first."
Mrs. Park sighed. "I know this. Do you love her more than anyone else, anyone you might meet in the future too?"
He shrugged, without answering. "She has to go back to the US, I can't stop that. I'll be touring when she goes through her court stuff."
"Ask yourself if you want her to run to you, when she can't handle something, instead of running away."
"Of course I do, I want her to trust me. But I can't change Jin," Jay said dejectedly. Where was his mother going with all this?
Wisely Mrs. Park explained, "you don't change her, you just show Jin why she should run to you and not away.... Also I think you and the boys should sing and dance for your dinner tonight. Will you do that?"
"Sure, what do you want me to sing?"
Mrs. Park smiled, "you'll figure it out." She put her hand on his cheek, "I'm so proud of you son and never forget we love you."
He raised his eyebrow at her, but stood and hugged his mother. "I know mom, I love you too."
"Have a good day dear and don't you boys be late tonight."
"We won't, trust me the guys love Jin's cooking, they'll be on the door step drooling at six sharp!"
She laughed and nodded. Jay walked her to the exit and held the door open for her. "See you tonight mom."
That lunch meeting, got pushed back in his mind as work monopolized all his time. Simon D and Cha Cha kept track of time. They made sure that Jay was ready to head home. On the way there, he remembered his mom's request. A quick text to Dj Pumpkin to bring his lap top and gear, then he sent a mass text to all of the AOMG crew that his mom wanted them to sing and dance before dinner.
"You're mom likes when you sing Michael Jackson covers," Chase reminded.
"Yeah, so does Jin. But which song?"
"Do Billie Jean and then So Good," Simon suggested.
"That could work," Jay said. "Um... like you guys are cool with not staying around after dinner right?"
