Chapter 4
We pulled back and I looked at Gaara blushing. “Why did you do that?” I asked. “Now might not be a good time, but I love you Miyuki.” He said. I was completely dumbstruck but I reached my hand towards him and grasped his hands. “What?” I said sounding like an idiot. “W-well you see, I’ve had a b-bit of a c-crush on you ever since I first t-talked to you at the academy, but I’ve been too shy to talk to you since.” He said nervously stuttering.
*Flashback Begin*
It was my first day at the academy and I was alone. I had no idea who anyone was and I felt really embarrassed. Everyone seemed to have a friend and knew what to do, except for me. I was sitting at a bench alone and looked at everyone. I did see someone else who was also alone. He looked very familiar but I couldn’t remember who he was at the moment. I decided to go talk to him since he was alone. “Hello.” I said. He stared at me in surprise but didn’t reply. “Is it okay if I sit here?” I asked. He nodded and I sat down. “Why are you here? Nobody else talks to me, so why are you?” He asked. “Because…” I said kissing his forehead. He looked completely shocked and confused. “You look like you need a friend. What’s your name? My name’s Miyuki Hiragana.” I said extending my hand.
*Flashback End*
I giggled a little out of embarrassment. It was kind of funny how I almost said the exact same thing when I met him as a kid. “Well, I’ve always had my eye on you, but you never seemed interested in me.” I said remembering the days I would admire the red-head from afar while Mizurei sketched the guy in black next to him. She was always fascinated with Kankuro’s hat for whatever reason. “Miyuki?” He said shakily. “Yes?” I said. “Will you be my girlfriend?” He asked rather shyly. “Of course, Gaara.” I said and kissed his cheek. He stared into my eyes and I stared at his. He started to lean in and I leaned in as well. He softly pressed his lips against mine and I kissed back. We pulled back and I hugged him. He hugged me back and we continued looking at the scenery paintings. The only difference was that we were holding hands.
We looked at statues and murals as we continued walking around the museum. There was a painting of Final Valley in the Land of Fire. “I want to go there some day. It looks so beautiful.” I said. “We’ll go one day. Not today, but someday.” He said kissing my cheek.
Before we knew it, it was time to go back with everyone else. “Do you want to tell them about us?” I asked as we started swinging our hands. “I don’t think they’ll be happy about us going out only one day after ‘officially’ meeting.” Gaara said. “That’s true. So should we act like we’re just friends?” I asked. He nodded.
We started walking side by side back to the lobby, and I was struggling with resisting the urge to hold hands. I desperately wanted to hug him or talk to him or something, but he was being quiet. We soon saw Temari and Kankuro walking towards us. “Hey guys.” I said waving to them. They nodded back in response. “Were there any pieces that any of you guys liked?” I asked them. “I liked the statues.” Kankuro said. “I liked the portraits.” Temari said. “I liked the oil-pastels.” I said. “I liked the paintings.” Gaara said.
Then Baki-sensei showed up with the man from earlier. “Okay, we have another mission. We’re going to guard Misahi-san’s cousin, who needs to be guarded at a meeting from any robbers or thieves of the sort. This is a B-rank mission, so everyone keep your guard up.” He said. “Thank you all for bringing that priceless statue to my museum.” The man, now known as Misahi, said bowing. We bowed back and left the museum.
We walked to a fine built building near the edge of Suna. ‘A private meeting in a beautiful and random building on the outskirts of town…it’s the perfect place to get robbed. Idiots!’ I thought as we continued walking inside. ‘This is exactly why I hate feudal lords. They can’t go anywhere without having some fine art, money or a huge fancy building waiting for them!’ I thought angrily.
“Temari, you guard the east side of the building. Kankuro, you guard the west. Gaara, you guard the south and Miyuki you will guard the north. I will be inside of the building with Misahi-Sama. This meeting should last at least an hour. I will come to collect all of you when this mission is over. Now go!” Baki-sensei said.
“Right!” We said and went to our positions. ‘This should be an interesting mission.’ I thought.
