Chapter 34
When we walked into the living room the next morning, there was a note on the table with a time and place to meet.
“Okay, it’s almost about an hour before we have to get there. Let’s eat something and I’ll just re-pack my supplies.” I said.
He nodded and I took my pill, then I proceeded to make us some sandwiches. After we ate, I packed some more medicines and weapons.
“Miyuki are you ready?” Gaara asked from the other room.
“Just about!” I said putting scrolls with more supplies in my pouch. I stood up and put my bag over my shoulders. I adjusted my headband and smiled. ‘Time for the second exam…’ I thought walking into the living room.
“I’m ready.” I said entering to see Temari and Kankuro there. “Are you guys ready?” I asked them. They nodded and we made our way to the rendezvous point.
*Short Time Skip*
Soon we were in front of a fenced-off forest with a ‘restricted’ sign on it. The forest was absolutely huge.
Anko spoke after Naruto asked where we were.
“This is the location for the second phase of the exam. It’s the 44th battle-training zone, but we call it…the forest of death.” She said.
‘Sounds lovely.’ I thought.
“Forest of death?” Naruto asked.
Out of nowhere, this rectangular box with designs to look like rocks came out of nowhere and shifted towards Naruto.
‘What the hell is that?’ I asked myself completely confused.
As Naruto moved, the box followed along with him.
‘Well there’s definitely someone in there if it’s moving and following Naruto…’ I thought.
Naruto stopped and faced it, shouting about how it was ‘the worst disguise of all time’ and what not.
‘Has he seen this before then?’ I thought to myself.
Gaara tapped my shoulder and I turned to face him.
He opened his mouth to say something, but was cut off by explosions. We both looked at the direction of Naruto. There were three kids kneeling on floor coughing violently as the smoke cleared up.
“I think we used a little too much gun power, you guys.” One of them said.
I immediately recognized them as the kids we ran into when we first met Naruto’s squad.
“So…do you have any idea on what’s going on?” I whispered into Gaara’s ear.
“Too be honest, I don’t really care.” He said. “But it’s not something I would be concerned about if I were you.” Gaara said.
“I see, but I’m intrigued.” I said.
“Hey, you over there! What are you doing? You’re holding up the exam.” Anko said walking towards them.
“Oh! They’re in for it now.” I whispered to Gaara.
He spared me a smirk and smiled.
They continued to talk for a bit and Gaara and I just sort of got lost in our own world. “You know, I really am the shortest candidate here.” I said smiling. He suppressed a chuckle but spared me a smile.
“So it seems.” He said looking around at the other candidates. “I guess that means I’m the second shortest.” He said.
“Lucky.” I muttered. He smirked and then I saw Anko turn around.
