Chapter 10: You're Gonna Be Okay

I ran to the garage, the car was gone and so were Max and Phoenix.  I wondered if they ran off together, but shook that out of my head knowing Phoenix and him weren't on good terms. I ran into the room that belonged to the wives, each of them looking up from what they were doing.

"You alright?" Capable asked, standing to her feet.

"Max and Phoenix are gone... Have you seen them?" They all shook their heads, with worried looks on their faces. I nodded walking out and jogging down the corridor walking past Jeet who nodded in acknowledgement but kept walking. "JEET! Wait!" I called and he turned to face me. "Have you seen Max and-"

"Phoenix? I'm looking for them too..." He said worriedly "last I heard from Birdie, she said they might head out to reduce threat...but they could be anywhere" he rubbed his temple thoughtfully. "You thinkin' of sending a search party?" He asked and I nodded. "Ariadne's got night fevers again, by the way, I'm gonna go back to gas town, see if I can get her some medicine I there is any, and you, go look for Max and Phoenix" I stood as stared at him thinking about Ariadne, if she was sick why wouldn't she just tell me? I sighed, nodding and telling Jeet to be safe on his trip back.

I walked back to Ariadne's ton, she was curled up in a ball in her blankets, shaking horribly and sweating. I frowned, walking towards the bed and sitting next to her. She tuned to face me, her eyes wary and her voice weak, se grabbed my hands, but her grip was light.

"Why didn't you tell me...?" I asked, pouring some water Ono a cloth and wiping it on her forehead "you know I just want to take care of you" she chuckled a little and it was good to see her smile EEN though she wasn't feelin good.

"Didn't want you to worry" she say up a little, I kissed her gently, moving her hair out of her face. "Did you find Phoenix and Max?" She mumbled wordily, looking into my eyes. I shook my head, holding her hand in mine.

"Jeet said they might've headed out, something might've happened, I'm gonna go look for them" she looked at me sadly, she wanted me to stay with her and god knows how badly I wanted to, but she knew that we needed to find them. "Jeets going back to gastown to see if he can find some medicine, if there is any. He won't take long and he'll take care of you while I'm gone" she nodded, and I held her in my arms for a while. "When I come back you're all mine" she chuckled, pulling to head down and kissing me again.

"Hurry back" she smirked, then winked playfully. I smiled, holding her for as long as I could, keeping her as warm as I could before I had to go. "I love you" she mumbled quietly, causing me to smile.

"I love you too, so much"
