Chapter 20

Diagnosis

Natasha

I walked into Banner and Stark's lab. Paige said she wanted to spend time with the two geniuses and I wasn't about to argue with her. Not after the Mr. Goodbear incident. She says she's fine with it but there is a possibility that she isn't and doesn't know it herself.

As soon as I stepped into the lab I looked around, when I didn't see her I frowned. "Where's Paige?" I asked the two scientist sharply. Bruce only looked up from his for a quarter of a second to motion to Tony. Tony, however, didn't look up from his work at all.

"I sent her upstairs, I'm trying to avoid another 'kid-in-suit' incident." I crossed my arms.

"I was just upstairs with Clint and Thor and the Captain is on a mission. Stark, I am asking you nicely. Where is my kid?" I said clear and steadily. There was no emotion in my voice to throw him off. I've been working on my 'Momma Bear Instinct' and now ask questions first and threaten later. Stark sighed before taking off his goggles and glaring at me.

"Why is it that I am always the one to blame for Paige's disappearance? Who knows, it could've been Bruce!" The both of us turned to Bruce who only glanced up at the two is before going back to work. I sighed trying to keep the momma bear in her cage.

"JARVIS, are you still having trouble tracking Paige?" I had asked the AI where Paige was right after my conversation with Clint and Thor. Thor would be departing with Loki later this afternoon and we were discussing when he might be back. When I asked JARVIS, he had said he was having trouble trying to figure out where she was and last time I checked, that shouldn't have been possible. For Paige at least.

"No, Agent Romanoff. I have located Ms. Romanoff and she appears to be conversing with Loki Laufeyson outside of his cell." I was already on my way to the cell when I heard the name 'Loki'.

"JARVIS get everyone else there." I heard Stark command.

I was in the room before anyone else and what I was seeing was almost unreal.

"This is your 'badness level'. It is extremely high for someone your height." Loki looked he would rather die than sit through the rest of the conversation with her. He had a muzzle on his mouth to keep him from talking and I'm guessing Paige took advantage of that.

"Paige, this area is off limits you know that." I said strictly. Paige turned to me guiltily.

"The door opened so I thought it was ok." She defended.

"The door was open?" This place shouldn't be accessible without at least two retina scans and matching finger prints. I refuse to believe that the door was just open.

"Yep, so I decided to tell Mr. Raven his diagnosis. He has a high badness level so I'm recommending treatments." I was dumbstruck by my little girl. She never mentioned anything about wanting to be a doctor- a psychologist rather. And then here she was, diagnosing the behavioral health of the God of Mischief.

"So, Paige, what are those treatments?" Tony entertained. No one intervened and I'm pretty sure everyone wanted to hear.

"Well if my calculations are correct, three good deeds a day should help the badness go down a little." A chuckle came from both Clint and Tony. "But if my calculations aren't correct, death." The chuckling immediately stopped and through the unbreakable glass you could see Loki raise an eyebrow.

"Well this escalated fairly quickly." Bruce muttered.

"YOUNG ONE! ARE YOU SUGGESTING THAT DEATH IS THE ONLY WAY TO BE RID OF MY BROTHERS FOUL WAYS?!" Thor said seeming quite offended.

"Only if my calculations are wrong." She corrected. How was she still so adorable even when suggesting death to someone as a cure? "By the way, it's important to use your indoor voice when your indoors." She mentioned.

"Paige, the only way your calculations are correct is if you got your information from a reliable source and if you calculated correctly. If you got any information from Loki I wouldn't say he's the most reliable source." Tony said dismissing her entire theory. I resisted the urge to glare at him for shooting Paige down like that. I'm still working on turning off the momma bear instinct.

"I based my calculations off of experience. We were both adopted so I put myself in his position and started from there. He's just misunderstood. Everything he's done has a reason behind it that no one has thought to take into consideration. So please, when you take him home, ask him exactly why he's done what he's done." I was officially speechless.

"Looks like we've got another genius on our hands." Clint announced and Bruce scoffed.

"No kidding, did we really teach her all of that in one sitting?" Bruce asked Tony.

"It doesn't surprise me. Only geniuses can teach non-geniuses to be geniuses in one sitting." He said with a smirk. "Our genius is contagious."

"Lady Paige, Loki and I are departing tonight so if you would like to accompany the others in saying goodbye, if the Lady Natasha will allow it, we would be most honored." Thor said, finally using his 'indoor voice'.

"Ooh, can I?" Paige asked me, finally slipping back into the mindset of a five year old.

"Uh, only if you promise to stay out of the confinement cell rooms." I said, finally getting my words back.

"I pinky swear!" She said holding up her little pinky.

We all went down to where we watched Thor and Loki depart the first time Loki came to earth. I held Paige's hand as the others said their goodbyes.

"Go and say bye" I told her. She let go of my hand to give Thor a goodbye hug. Once she said a few words to him she came back to me and instinctively grabbed my hand.

Thor nodded to all of us once more giving a farewell before turning his head towards the sky and called for someone.

"HEIMDALL! OPEN THE BIFROST!" He shouted to the sky. A bright light shot to the ground and the two brothers disappeared. I stared up at the sky as I got a bad feeling something had happened. I squeezed Paige's hand for reassurance... Or at least I thought I did. I looked down and saw Paige no where to be found. I turned around and around until I realized how ridiculous I looked.

"Where is my daughter?!" I shouted

"Mommy?"
