Chapter 23
Warning: More Unexpectedness
Grounded
Clint~
Well this is just awesome. First Thor leaves, then Paige disappears, then Tasha isn't anywhere to be found, and apparently now is perfect time for every villain in New York to attack us.
"Cap, I hate to break it to you but even with the four quivers of arrows that I've brought, I'm gonna run out very soon." I confessed shooting at yet another lowly villain.
"Next time bring six." He snapped. It was understandable of course. I mean who wouldn't be stressed out if they were outnumbered, outgunned, and out of patience?
When I didn't hear any smart remarks from Stark I searched the skies for him. Unfortunately, the sky isn't where he is. Instead he's being swarmed by robotic henchmen. There wasn't much I could do from my position and as far as I can see Rogers and Hulk were a little occupied. Before I could ask how he was doing, a large beam that resembled the portal Thor liked to travel through, touched down in the middle of Times Square causing a mini earthquake. Suddenly all of the commotion stopped.
Once all of the bright lights faded away one figure stood in the middle of it all, and i'd recognize her fiery red hair anywhere. It was Nat, dressed in the same clothes she had on when she disappeared. Only the frown that she wore on her face was more worrisome. She turned and looked at all that surrounded her and I'm guessing she's caught up now because she pulled a dagger from... well lets just say its one of the many places you'd think a dagger wouldn't fit. Anyways, from where I was standing, she looked a bit upset too.
"You guys see her too right?" I questioned to my other teammates.
"Yeah I see her alright." Rogers answered. "Still doesn't change the fact that we're in the middle of something." Suddenly another light appeared in the sky, but it wasn't like the beam Nat came down in... No this was something very different.
"Umm Cap, I hate to break it to you, again, but I think this does change the fact that we're in the middle of something." I stated. I didn't get a response from Cap, but what I did get was a front row seat for what was about to happen.
The big ball of blue light came down closer to earth. My arms were itching to shoot at it but something else told me not to. Once the ball of light carefully faded, a small figure stood out in it all. And of al the things it could be, it had to be Paige.
Her eyes were glowing as well as her necklace. Her longish blonde hair was being thrown right and left, up and down, by whatever she was being held up by. Suddenly she spoke, but it wasn't the adorably cute voice that could make the devil sit in time out. No it was quite demonic, and for once I'm glad she isn't talking to me.
"YOU DARE THREATEN MY FAMILY?!" She roared. The next thing she said wasn't English and it definitely not any other language spoken on this earth.
Suddenly Thor appeared beside me. "Thor, it's good to see you." I greeted.
"And you, brother Clinton." He responded, and stared at the floating child.
"Soo anything new happening with you?" I asked casually.
"Aside from the Lady Paige being consumed by darkness, nothing recent has happened." He explained.
"Good, good..." I muttered. "So, any idea how to stop this or are we gonna continue standing around?" I asked finally.
"Ah, yes, well there is no way to stop her, I am afraid Midgard is doomed." My eyes widened a fraction.
