Jack's POV

Nurses and doctors rushed into the room, two of them kneeling down next to Daniel to try and help him. I just stood there. This is it. Dean is dead. They placed Daniel onto a stretcher and carried him out, into another room. I followed them, still not letting go of his hand. Dean is gone. That's all I can hear in my mind. Dean is gone, he's never coming back. They placed Daniel onto the bed in the room and disappeared, only for one of them to return a few moments later with a glass of water. The nurse looked at me, she could probably see the amount of emotional pain I'd been through.

"He'll be okay, you know." She said, gesturing to Daniel. I tried to smile... but I couldn't. I nodded instead. "He's had what we call vasovagal syncope, it's just a fainting episode after seeing... that..." I nodded again, sitting down on the chair next to Daniel's bed. I rested my head against the side of Daniel's bed and drifted off into a dreamless sleep.

When I woke up, I looked up to see Daniel looking at me, grinning. Why was he smiling? Did he forget that his brother literally just died? I furrowed my brow.

"Why are you smiling?" My voice cracked.

"He made it."

"What..?"

"Dean survived!"

I jumped up, finally letting go of Daniel's hand. I hugged him tightly.

"Did they say whether we can go and see him?"

"They said we can go as soon as you woke up!" He said, jumping off the bed. He stumbled, I reached out quickly and grabbed his arm, saving him from falling to the ground.

"Let's just take it slowly okay?"

He nodded. We walked slowly to Dean's room and silently pushed the door open. Sat next to Dean's bed was James, his black hair sticking up and tears running down his face, he was gripping Dean's hand tightly.

"James!" I said, closing the door behind us. He looked up and smiled weakly.

"Hey guys."

"Is he not awake yet?" Daniel asked, raising his eyebrows. James shook his head sadly.

"The doctor said he won't wake up for a while, a few hours maybe?" He said, unsure. Me and Daniel sat down on the sofa opposite Dean's bed.

"Thank you for being there with him. The doctor said he would've died if someone hadn't bandaged his arms."

"Thank Daniel for that, he practically saved Dean's life twice."

"How?"

"He bandaged his arms and he gave Dean the blood he needed."

James smiled.

"Thank you Daniel."

Daniel smiled softly in return. I could tell Daniel didn't like James, it was pretty obvious. The way he would talk to him, the looks he would give him. But I understand why, it was the same when I met my sister's boyfriend. Nobody is ever good enough for your brother or sister, and I doubt anyone ever will be. James' phone started ringing.

"Sorry guys, I'll be right back." He said, standing up and walking out the room.

"I don't like him." Daniel mumbled.

"I can tell..."

I took James' place next to Dean's bed and slipped his hand into mine. We sat in silence for a few minutes before Dean started to stir in his sleep.
