Daniel's POV
He's gone.
He's actually gone.
I dug the blade into my skin, sighing at the sensation of blood trickling out of my veins.
I'd told Jack that I'd stopped. Yes, I felt bad about lying to him, but it was better for both of us if I did. That way Jack wouldn't be constantly worrying about me and I could carry on doing it.
I lay back on my bed, I felt my heart lurch as I thought about Lucas. I had been thinking about him a lot recently. And it made me cry more and more each time I did.
"Daniel?" I heard Jack say, I looked up to see him stood in the doorway. I quickly rolled down my sleeves, still holding the blade.
"Hey..." I said casually.
He raised his eyebrows, sitting down on the bed.
He held out his hand.
"Give me the blade."
I felt my heartbeat rapidly increase.
I needed it. It was the only thing that helped me get through each day.
"I-I don't have one." I stuttered.
He grabbed my arm, he took the end of my sleeve between his fingers.
"Are you going to tell me the truth or am I going to have to see for myself?" He asked softly.
I sighed, opening my hand, holding out the blade for him.
He took it, placing it in his pocket.
"Why was it in your hand??"
I stared down at the ground.
He pulled up my sleeve, exposing the fresh cuts, blood was pouring out of them.
"Dan..."
"I'm sorry..."
"You should've told me, I could've helped."
I sighed.
Jack stood up, taking my hand and leading me to the bathroom.
He made me sit on the edge of the bath as he rummaged through the cupboard. He eventually found the bandages and set to work wrapping them around my arms.
"I'm sorry." I said.
"Don't apologise, I just wish you'd told me."
"I didn't want to waste your time..." I muttered.
"You wouldn't have wasted my time! It's important that you get better."
Once he'd finished bandaging my arms, he grabbed my hand and lead me downstairs, making me sit down on the sofa before sitting down next to me and hugging me tightly.
We sat there for a while in silence before I spoke.
"Do you still love Dean?"
He nodded sadly.
"He's all I ever think about."
"He'll come back soon, right?"
"Yeah... Of course he will."
He pulled away from the hug, I rested my head on his shoulder, staring straight ahead.
"What if he heard me at the airport?" Jack sighed.
"He probably didn't. If he did he would've said something."
"But what if he doesn't love me back so he just ignored it??"
I pulled my head away from his shoulder, turning to face him.
"Jack. Trust me. I know he loves you, you're all he ever talks about. He didn't hear you, he definitely would've come back."
Jack sighed, staring down at the ground for a moment before looking back up at me, meeting my eyes. He placed his hand on my cheek, pulling my face closer to his.
And then he kissed me.
I didn't know what to do, so I just kissed him back. He placed his arms around my waist, pulling me even closer to him.
The kiss became more and more passionate, his hands began tugging at my shirt. I pulled away.
He looked at me, confused.
"Jack, listen, I know you're upset about Dean leaving and I don't want to take advantage of you when you're like this."
"I'm sorry, I don't know wh-"
"It's fine, don't apologise."
My mind flashed back to the first time me and Lucas kissed. We were walking back to his place, hand in hand. We were walking over a small bridge when he'd suddenly stopped walking. We leaned against the railings, looking up at the stars and listening to the river flowing below us, still holding each other's hands. I remember looking back at him to see that he had been staring at me for most of the time with that stupid grin plastered on his face. I remember the spark of electricity as he placed his hands around my waist, pulling me closer to him. And then he kissed me.
"Daniel! Are you okay??" I was snapped out of my trance by Jack's voice.
"What?"
"You're crying... Are you okay?"
I moved my hand to my face, feeling the tears on my fingertips.
"I was thinking about Lucas..." I muttered, not sure if he could hear me.
Jack wrapped his arms around me immediately, holding me tightly.
"I wish there was some way I could help you..." Jack sighed.
He was quiet for a moment.
"I think you should go to counselling..." He said eventually.
I pulled away from him, shaking my head.
"Daniel, please, I want you to get better."
"They'll try and make me forget."
He frowned.
"Forget what?"
"Lucas."
"They won't, I won't let them."
I stared at the ground.
"Please, Dan. I'll go with you, you can't carry on like this."
I sighed.
"Fine..."
