Dean's POV

I made my way to Lucas' room, expecting to find him and Daniel talking and laughing together, instead I found Daniel stood outside his room, clinging onto Jack and sobbing hysterically into his shoulder.

"D-Daniel..?" I called out, Daniel immediately let go of Jack and threw his arms around me, crying loudly into my shirt. I looked up at Jack, frowning in concern and feeling my heart sink when I saw Jack just shake his head sadly.

"Shh, i-it'll be okay..." I tried to reassure Daniel.

He just shook his head, sobbing even harder.

After a few minutes, a doctor appeared at the door. Daniel pulled away from me and looked at him, a slight glimmer of hope in his eyes. The doctor just let out a sigh, resting a hand on Daniel's shoulder. "I'm sorry..." He said.

Lucas was gone...

Daniel stared at the ground, his expression completely unreadable as he began to slowly walk down the corridor by himself, Jack quickly nudging me and taking my hand, following him back to his room.

Daniel just lay on his bed, staring up at the ceiling as the tears formed in his eyes again.

"I'm sorry Daniel..." I said, resting my hand on his and barely eliciting a reaction.

"This is all James' fault." He said coldly after a moment.

"I-I know..." I sighed, feeling completely responsible.

This never would've happened if I hadn't put up with James for so long...

"W-What if he takes you too?" Daniel whimpered, wiping away an escaped tear from his cheek.

"We'll make sure that doesn't happen." A voice said from the door.

We turned around to see a policewoman stood in the doorway.

"P.C. Carver." She said, holding up her badge. "I'd like to ask you all a few questions about James Matthews."

I nodded.

"Would you two mind leaving the room whilst I ask Daniel a few questions first?"

"O-Of course..." I said, giving the woman a weak smile. Daniel frowned, looking terrified. "P-Please don't leave me!" He whimpered.

I shook my head. "W-We'll be right outside the door, Daniel... It won't be long." I said, trying to reassure him as Jack took my hand. Daniel just sighed, defeated as I followed Jack out of the room.

I took a seat on one of the chairs opposite the door, staring down at the ground.

"You okay?" Jack asked before I could get lost in my thoughts, sitting down beside me and taking my hand in his again.

I just nodded.

"No you're not..." Jack sighed.

I hesitated for a second before sighing and speaking. "I-I just can't stop thinking about James. What if, f-for some reason, the tests come back negative? W-What if he gets a-away with it?!"

"They won't let him get away with anything..." Jack whispered. "It's all three of our words against his..."

I sighed, too exhausted to think about every possible scenario and just sitting there in silence with him.

"T-Thank you Jack..." I eventually spoke up.

Jack turned, blinking at me. "What for?"

"E-Everything. You've helped me through so much..."
