Dean's POV

"We're getting married Jack..." I sighed.

Silence.

"Jack? Are you okay?"

"Can we go and get some coffee or something? I think we need to talk." He muttered.

"S-Sure... I'll meet you there in ten minutes."

I hung up.

"J-James..?" I called out.

"What?" He asked viciously. My hands started trembling.

"Am I allowed to go and see Jack? He said he needs to talk to me."

"What does he want to talk to you about?"

"I'm not sure." I lied, staring down at the engagement ring on my finger.

I know he's going to try and talk me out of marrying James. But I have to, I don't have a choice. It's either get married, or die.

"Fine. But call me when you get there and when you're about to leave. And be back within two hours."

"O-Okay, thank you..."

I stood up, wincing at the pain in my back. My mind suddenly flashed back to last night. The way he laughed every time he hit me with his belt, the way he sliced the flesh on my arms open. I shuddered.

"What's wrong Deany Bear?" James asked, using that sickeningly sweet tone.

"Nothing, I'm just cold." I smiled at him. He wrapped his arms around me.

"Is that better?"

"Much better."

He giggled, lightly pushing me towards the door.

"Go on, go have fun with Jack. And remember," His expression changed into one of hatred. "If you tell him, I'll fucking kill you."

"I-I know. I promise I won't. I love you."

His face softened again.

"I love you too."

I made my way to the coffee shop where me and Jack always used to go. I saw him and Daniel sat at a table together, looking worried. As soon as I sent a text to James to let him know I was here, I walked through the door and they immediately turned around to look at me, Daniel jumped up.

"Dean! Where the hell have you been??"

"Nice to see you too."

He flung his arms around me, burying his face in my shirt.

"We were all really worried about you." Jack said.

"I'm fine! I'm actually doing a lot better." I lied. Truth is, I was worse than I'd ever been before.

"Good!" He smiled.

Daniel and I sat down at the table, they both stared at me.

"What?"

"How did he do it?" Daniel asked happily.

"Do what?"

"Propose!"

"Oh... It was just the simple 'drop to one knee and ask me to marry him'."

"Awh, that sounds cute."

I giggled.

"It was."

It wasn't. Not the slightest bit. I was just lying on the bed, hoping that he'd just find a quick and painless way to end my miserable life, when he came into the room and forced the ring onto my finger. Out of all the things he'd done to me, that was the most painful. Knowing that I'll have to spend the rest of my pointless, meaningless existence with him.
