"Kou?" I said as I got out of the pool, my eyes widening when I spotted the red headed girl.
"Blaise?!" she exclaimed before running over to me, hugging me.
"Wow you look good!" I said, smiling happily.
"You too! Why are you here? I thought you lived in America!" She asked me, tilting her head slightly. I shook my head before answering.
"I decided to come live with my dad." I said "Oh I want you to meet my best friend!" I said and she nodded.
"Alex, come here!" I called out to her and she nodded before walking over.
"Alex?" Gou said, looking at me in confusion.
"This is Alex my best friend, you met her when we were little but you probably wouldn't remember her." I told Gou.
"Alex, this is my cousin Kou." I told her as she smiled at Kou. Kou smiled back before turning back to me.
"Are you joining the swim club, Blaise?" She asked and I paused to think about it.
"Er, well I don't know..." I said, trailing off.
"Please? We could use new members!" She told me as she begged. Ugh, I can't really say no to my own cousin, now could I?
"I suppose I could." I said, smiling nervously.
"Really?" She squealed and I nodded.
"What about Alex?" I looked over at her and watched when she shook her head.
"No, I think she will pass." I said turning back to Kou.
"Well, at least we have one!" she said, pumping a fist into the air in excitement.
"Why won't you join Mermaid?" I looked over to see that Haru standing next to Alex, looking down at her in slight confusion.
"I don't swim in competitions. I swim to be in the water." She said looking away but he just continued to stare at her.
"I have to go." She said before shoving passed me and grabbing her things before storming off.
"What's wrong with Alex?" Nagisa said as he walked up, looking worried.
"Long story." I said as I watched her walk away.
"Anyway guys, Rin scheduled a joint practice with us in two days!" Kou told us. Rin? Why does that name sound familiar?
"Well okay. But I should go, I have to find Alex" I told the group.
They nodded before Nagisa walked forward, smiling at me.
"Can we come with?" Nagisa asked, I looked at him in confusion.
"You want to follow me home?" I asked while everyone nodded.
"Then we can go get a bite to eat!" Makoto said "I mean if you want to- I'm not forcing you- I mean you don't have to come with us if you don't feel like it!" He rambled on while rubbing the back of his head and blushing slightly.
"Yeah, I would love too!" I said, giggling slightly. "Come on, I know exactly where she is going to be."
I told them before motioning them to follow me.
"Bye Kou, see you tomorrow!" I called as we walked off, waving to her.
"Bye!" She called back as we began walking towards my house.
"So, where is she?" Makoto asked me as he walked beside me. I looked down, a blush appearing on my face slightly.
"Well, she will be either be at the docks or she is sitting in the tub. She does that when she is upset." I told him.
"Haru does that!" Makoto told me as I walked up to my house.
"Come in" I said, opening the door and motioning for them to walk in.
"You guys can sit while I will go check the tub" I said before walking to the bathroom and opening the door. Alex was sitting there with her knees up to her chest with her forehead resting on top of her knees. Her hair was wet and clinging onto her back. I gave a small sigh before walking over to her.
"Mermaid, I didn't mean for that to happen." I said kneeling next to the tub.
"I know" she told me, her voice amplified by the water acoustics.
"I'm sorry" I said, rubbing a hand on her back.
"Don't be. Things happen and people die." she said, looking up at me slightly.
"Don't act like that. I know it still hurts" I said to her softly.
"Yeah it stings like a bitch every time someone mentions a swim team" She said looking up at me as sadness danced in her emerald eyes.
"It wasn't your fault." I told her softly. I wished she didn't blame herself for what happened. It could have happened to anyone!
"I couldn't save him." She said as she laid her head back onto her knees.
"Are you hungry?" I asked trying to change the subject but she shrugged.
"The boys want to take us to dinner." I explained and she looked up at me, confused.
"The boys?" She asked, tilting her head.
"Makoto, Rei, Nagisa, and Haru" I told her.
"Okay" She responded and I stood up and stuck out a hand to her, smiling softly. She took it and I pulled her up so she was standing. As she got out, I handed her a towel before we walked out into the living room.
"Okay, let us change and then we can go get some food." I said told the guys before walking to my room. Alex threw on a dolphin shirt on and a pair of sweats while I stripped out of my wet clothing before pulling on a pair of black sweats and a tank that had a photo of a beaver and across it said "Sorry, do I look like I build a dam?" written across it. I smiled, remembering that Alex was the one that bought it for me, saying how she thought I would find it funny.
"You ready?" I asked while putting on my shoes before turning to look at her.
"Yeah" She told while she put her hair into a bun. Her bangs fell over her eye and instead of pushing them back, she blew them out of the way. I nodded before grabbing my brush and running it through my hair. Before I could walk out, Alex stopped me. Before I could ask her what she wanted, she grabbed my hair before putting it into a fishtail. I smiled at her before we walked out towards the living room.
"We are ready now" I told the guys and they nodded before standing up.
"I'll drive." Rei told us as we headed out towards his car. Nagisa rushed forward and climbed into the front while Haru climbed in, followed by Alex. I followed behind her, sitting next her. I looked when Makoto sat down next to me. We smiled at each other, a slight blush on both of our faces.
