My voice was barely a whisper, “Only you. I love you. Only you.” I chanted iit like some sort of spell, one that made me feel better. He stopped me, rubbing my hair.
“Bella, I love you too. I always have, and always will. I’m sorry for what I did to you.”
With those magical words, I’m sorry, spoken in his magical voice, I could barely retain my anger. I could feel it flowing out of me with my tearless sobs. “Edward.” I whispered. “They have Ebony.”
“I’ll take care of it
Clap. Clap. Clap. “How amusing.” Aro sneered. “But, you shouldn’t interrupt.”
Edward bowed his head. Actually bowed his head! “I’m sorry.”
Aro waved him over. “Come here. Your hand please.” Why would he want his hand? But Edward obeyed, and Aro closed his eyes as he gripped his hand. “How marvelous. A girl who’s mind I cannot read and a boy who’s mind let’s me see everyone’s.” He opened his eye and peeked at me. “Except yours of course.” Suddenly he let go of Edward’s hand. “Well, it seems like you don’t know much about the child. But-”
The door slammed open again, and the guards threw in a heap of people. Aro simply looked annoyed that his sentence was interrupted. The guards hastily bowed. “Lord Aro, these creatures were trying to get in.”
Aro waved his hand. “Go. Leave them.” He wrinkled his nose. “God they smell horrib-”
“Werewolves!” Another one of the main three exclaimed. I wasn’t sure about his name, I think he was Caius, but Aro cast an annoyed glance at being interrupted once more.
“Who are you? And why is a vampire travelling with-”
“Bella!” Jacob cried, Aro was getting extremely annoyed with all the interruptions. But Alice quickly grabbed Jake before he could rush over, staring straight at Aro. But realization struck him. He saw me, here. Beside Edward. In his arms. Suddenly I was struck by guilt, he looked crushed. Leah eyed Edward and I, giving us a look filled with loathing, hate, and hurt.
Oh God. They hate me. For choosing Edward, the werewolves hate me. Even lovable Sam did not wear his eternally-happy smile. He looked at us seriously, and shook his head sadly. I knew, if I were human, I would have burst into tears right then and there. But I wasn’t. I was a vampire. And all I could do was stare back, from the safety of Edward’s arms. As I looked at Jacob, I tried to convey everything. I’m sorry, we can’t be together. We aren’t even the same species. And even though I love you, it’s not in the same way. Oh Jake, I’m sorry. I felt a sob catch in my throat, but Alice’s voice brought me back to reality.
“I am sorry to interrupt like this, but we simply came to assure Bella and her child’s safety.”
Aro eyed them. “And yet you brought werewolves. Now give me your hand child.”
Alice dutifully approached, giving Aro her hand. He closed his eyes once more, giving a faint gasp of surprise. “The future!” He suddenly let go of Alice’s hand and turned to me. “Odd girl, befriending werewolves like you do. But she knows a bit more about your child, and it proves your story true. Except one part, you said you don’t know the father.”
“But I don’t!”
“She doesn’t, I only just found out.”
I stared at Alice and whispered in a voice so low that humans could not hear. “You do?”
Alice’s eyes travelled slowly to Ebony, who still struggled in that blond girl’s arm, then to me. “I received a call from Carlisle. He’s been doing tests, and he found the father. It’s-”
A.n. Mwahahahaha! I am pure evil when it comes to cliff hangers! But I am in a really happy mood, my laptop is fixed so I can continue typing! I really missed you guys, (love)!
