Jacob's POV
"Go." The only word I uttered to them. "Go? Alright, I'll go. Inside." Seth said, him and his sister pushing into the doorway. I moved, but only to run in front of Bella. I had to protect her. "Hey guys how are you?" Seth asked in a friendly matter. "None of your business." I growled back. "Now get out of here! I don't care what you were sent to do, but I won't let you hurt Bella." Actually, I was surprised Sam sent these two to do the deed. But maybe because he thought I wouldn't suspect them. Unfortunately, for him, his plan didn't work. I was on high alert, watching their every movement and also keeping an eye on all possible entrances in case they were just a distraction. "No wait." Said the doctor. "Tell them, get them to tell Sam about it." "About what?" Seth asked, confused. "We need you to talk to Sam immediately. You have to tell him it was one of the werewolves who impregnated Bella." Both mouths fell open. "What!?" Screeched Leah, her first spoken words. Bella looked up and covered her ears. "You hurt my ears." "Sorry!" She automatically said, and I spoke next. "Just tell Sam!" "We can't!" "Why not!" "Because we left the pack to join yours." It took a moment for Seth's words to register on me. "What?" "We're joining your-" "I heard you! How could you do that!" "Because we want to protect Bella! She's my best friend too!" Leah exclaimed, and marched over and gave Bells a hug. Bells hugged back. "Arg-" A strangled cry came from Leah's throat and Bella automatically let go. "Sorry!" Leah took a deep breath. "It's okay Bella. God you stink." "Me? You all smell like wet dog!" "Oh, wait till the human blood is gone. Then she'll have a completely vampire scent!" Alice said cheerfully, and the baby giggled as if she understood. Leah finally noticed the child. "May I see her?" Bella nodded and Alice handed her over. "She's beautiful." "Thank you. I put a lot of work into her." Leah giggled, "I guess you did." Ebony giggled too. She barely seemed like a new born babe. In fact, she was surprisingly big. As if reading my mind, Leah commented on it. "When was she born? Last month?" "Strange. She seemed normal size when I took her out of Bella's stomach." The doctor added, he shrugged. "Must have been a trick of the light." Then the strange thing happened. Ebony looked straight at the doctor and shook her head no. We all stared at her, she just smiled and giggled. Seth whistled. "That's one smart baby. Maybe I'm the dad, she certainly is like me." I shot daggers at him, but Bella giggled. "Nay if it were you," Said his sister. "It'd be dumber than a brick." He grinned, not even minding the insult, but his comment had still disturbed me. "Just because your being all nice doesn't mean your in." I growled. Leah sighed. "You really gonna protect her and Ebony all the time huh?" I gave a curt nod. "Well, there's a problem. You sleep. Bella doesn't." "Then a vampire can help." Leah's laugh was short. A mere 'ha!' "I know you better than that, Black. You wouldn't trust them to protect her without your surveillance. You're afraid they might let Edward come." Alice frowned. "Seriously? I just hid Bella's pregnancy for nine months. And Edward's a damned mind reader. You think I would let him in now? No way. Not if Bella doesn't want him." Leah and Alice started getting in each other's faces. "Hey!" Bella yelled over the arguing. "I think I should get to choose what's best for me and my baby!" Everybody turned and looked at her. "Jacob, I don't want you protecting me 24/7. You need sleep. I trust Alice and the others to protect me. And Jacob, for God's sake, just let them in your pack." My lips automatically curled upwards, but I brought it down. "Fine." She smiled. Her smile was so brilliant. I had to admit, although she stank, she was beautiful. More beautiful than any human. Than again, for me she always was. I just hoped Edward wasn't going to steal that beauty from me again.
Bella's POV
They are like children. They keep arguing for all the wrong reasons. Edward. Edward. Edward. All they had to do was say his name. And now I couldn't forget. I couldn't forget the way he loved me. The way he held me. The way his lips touched mine. The way he laughed. The way he talked. The way his hair felt through my fingers. The way his hard skin felt. The way my heart yearned for him. The way he tore it apart...
The way he wanted me back.
I tuned in for a moment and heard them arguing about me. Excuse me? I think I should decide who's going to protect me and Ebony. "Hey!I think I should get to choose what's best for me and my baby!" Everybody turned and looked at me. "Jacob, I don't want you protecting me 24/7. You need sleep. I trust Alice and the others to protect me. And Jacob, for God's sake, just let them in your pack." "Fine." He grumbled, his lip curling. But he hastily pulled it down. I smiled at him. "Now," I began. "As for my 'safety', I think the vampires should train me to learn to control my strength." "I think I should examine the baby," Carlisle said. "Don't hurt her!" I said fearfully as Ebony was handed to him. My darling baby blew me a kiss. "That definably isn't normal!" He exclaimed and put the baby on the ground. "Ebony? Do you understand me?" "Vampire!" Seth yelled. I hastily scooped up Ebony as everyone stood guard. They sniffed the air. "A vampire." Jacob growled. "And the filthiest of them all!" Alice turned towards me. "Bella, you and Ebony have to hide now!" "What?" "Edward's here."
Edward. Edward. Edward. Edward.
The way he wants me back.
The way my heart yearns for him still.
