"You have 3 minutes to say your fair-wells" a peacekeeper said to me. 3 minutes? Is that all? That wasn't even enough time to have a proper conversation, but I suppose it was better than them not letting us have any time to say our goodbyes to our loved ones at all. Just then my mother burst in and wrapped her arms around me sobbing, I just managed to catch a glimpse of my father trailing in behind her before she pulled me forward. "I'm so sorry Darcy! Just know that I love you and I always will" I nodded and didn't say a word as I knew that I would just burst into tears if I tried. My father on the other hand was very straight forward with me. "Form an alliance as soon as possible, it will keep you alive longer. Try to get Axe on your side, he seems like a strong contender, he could keep you alive" he said as if he was a past victor himself. "Yes father, I'll try. Tell Cinder and Ash that I said goodbye" I said, he nodded and attempted a weak smile but before I could say anymore, my parents were hauled away by the peacekeepers. And then they were gone. As I boarded the train I was shocked to see how many compartments we had to travel through before we arrived at our compartment. I stood in the doorway with my mouth wide open as I stared at all the beautifully laid out food spread across a long mahogany table. Fish, bread, cakes, meat, pastries...every food you could imagine laid on the table. I almost didn't notice the jolly capitol woman stood behind the table. "Hello deary's!" She beamed. "My names Pheonix Sky! And I'm your escort!" She smiled. I didn't want to but I couldn't help but smiling back at her, she was just too jolly to ignore. She was a tall woman with bouncing blonde curls that were clearly a wig, she wore bright pink eyeshadow to match her bright pink lips and had clearly had a great deal of plastic surgery performed on a lot of her body. "Come come! Sit down! Dig in! Your Mentor will be here in just a moment!" As I sat down in my chair and went to grab a small slice of bread, I noticed Axe slumped in his chair refusing to eat anything made by the capitol. He hadn't spoken to me once on the journey to the train and i was pretty sure he wasn't intending to talk to me here either. So much for my fathers plan. Just then, a tall broad handsome man with golden hair and blue eyes walked in. I knew straight away who he was, he was my mentor. I knew this because he was last years victor, he won the games at the age of eighteen. He smiled at us as he sat down in his chair on the opposite side of the table. "Well well well! My first tributes" he beamed, he seemed almost as jolly as Pheonix, this was odd for a victor as they usually don't want to associate with their tributes much as they know that they will watch at least one of them die before their eyes on television. "My name Is Caleb Fray, I'm going to be your mentor. And your names are..?" I looked over at Axe who was clearly not going to talk to his mentor as he just glared at him and said nothing. "I..I'm Darcy. And this is Axe" I stuttered. "Is he a mute?" Caleb smirked. But before he could say anything else, Axe stood up and stormed back to his room. "Well I guess it's just you and me then" he smiled seeming oddly okay with what had just happened.
