The

Princess' Freedom

Chapter 3

Liberty smilled when she woke up the next morning. Her Father wasn't home, she was free to do what she wanted, and finally, after many years of being locked in the palace with nothing except work to do, she had a friend.

A knocked sounded on her door, indicating that it was either time to get up, or there was news about when her Father was expected home.

This time, it turned out to be both.

"Liberty, I got a call from your Father a few minutes ago. I'm sorry to say, but he's coming home tomorrow. He expects you to be up and at work when he arrives." Her Mother said after Liberty had gotten dressed.

"So, back to before..." She said. Her mother nodded.

"I'm sorry, darling. I'll try my hardest to make him change how he treats you. It's not right. I know this. I should've done something before. Hopefully, with Ashton here, we can set things right." Her mother said. Liberty nodded.

"Hopefully we can." She said, a slight sadness in her voice.

"So, how was the time with the Princess?" His friend and roommate Lucas asked. He was a newly tained guard here at the Palace Rosseta, just like hi older brother Felix.

Ashton smiled as he thought of Liberty aand their time yesterday.

"Good. I just wish we had been able to come a bit sooner." He told his friend. Lucas tilted his head in confusion.

"Why is that? Remember, I was with different guards the day we were brought in, so I don't know all that you do." Lucas said.

"It's like Ellie. All her Father does is put her down." He said. Lucas nodded.

"I can see why you wish we had came earlier. It's sad when any girl has to deal with someone like that. Can't imagine how she feels."

"She thought that was how everybody treated their daughters. She said every offical her Father works with is the same way to theirs'." Ashton said, right as a knock was heard.

"I'll get it. You go change. You have work to do this morning." Lucas said. Ashton nodded.

"Thanks."

The sound of the door opening was heard in the adjoining bathroom, which Ashton had walked into to change after grabbing his clothes. Of course, he wasn't expecting to here the next words said.

Lucas wasn't expecting to say the words he was about to say either. Of course, he didn't expect to see the girl at the door that he did either.

"Is... Is Ashton here?" Liberty asked shyly. Lucas nodded.

"Of course, Princess. Hold on and I'll get him." Lucas walked over to the bathroom door as Liberty walked in and sat down on Ashton's bed. "Dude, the Princess is here for you."

Ashton was out of the bathroom in less than a minute.

"Liberty, is everything alright?" Ashton asked, sitting down besides the young lady. Liberty shook her head slightly. "What's the matter?"

"My Father will be home tomorrow morning." She said. Ashton looked up at his friend. Lucas just shook his head.

"Don't worry Princess. Ashton will make sure nothing happens and I will too. Seems my friend wants to make sure he doesn't hurt you anymore." He said. Liberty looked up at him.

"Thank you. What's your name?" She asked him. He smiled,

"I'm Lucas. Your protector's best-friend." He told her. Liberty smiled.

"Please, call me Liberty. Did you say you and Ashton where best-friends?" Lucas nodded.

"Yep, ever since he saved my but in elementry school."

"Saved you from what?"

"Some kids where picking on him and I didn't think it was right. I stood up for him and helped keep them away. Best-friends since." Ashton told her. Liberty giggled.

"Do you just try to help everybody?" She asked him.

"No, not unless he really cares about them, or really hates what is happening to them." Lucas said. "You happen to fall under both catagories."
